We would not choose the St George again. There’s nothing really wrong with the hotel, but there’s nothing right, either. You enter from the street into an elevator landing, like a service entrance. There’s no bell service, and if our driver hadn’t guided us, it would have made no sense. An elevator takes you to a small desk for check in, more like a security desk in an office building. To get to the park-view rooms from reception, follow the sign to the toilets, through a door into the stairwell, where you find two elevators. A truly strange and awkward hotel. In general: - Location in Helsinki is good - Staff are friendly and helpful - Our ā€œAtelierā€ room looked recently renovated - Only a queen bed in the room, and no seating beyond a single desk chair - Bathroom has heated floors and a huge tub, but the shower is cramped and the water temperature goes up and down - No coffee maker, just a water kettle and tea-like bags, and our room had only decaffeinated coffee - Breakfast is served in a Thai-food restaurant on the ground floor that smells strongly of yesterday’s Thai food. They keep its doors locked until 7:00am, so room service is the only option for earlier coffee. They also wanted us to make reservations, but they were all but empty each time we went. - Breakfast buffet was typical, but no cold cereals, only a super rich oatmeal. Good bread, but no toaster. - The Winter Garden lounge serves as both a limited restaurant and a kind of lobby lounge, with kids playing at tables and the bar, though it does have several quiet areas. Its menu has three items only: burger, club sandwich, and Caesar salad. - The bakery makes decent breads and baked sweets, but it seems like a popular local hangout for remote workers, who sit at length at tables with empty coffee cups and power cords running everywhere, so don’t be surprised if you can’t find a seat We just didn’t like the hotel, but we were there for only three nights. It’s serviceable, but it wasn’t a pleasure to stay in.

Stunning hotel that absolutely deserves it's 5-star rating. The building itself is a mix of historic charm and modern facilities. I was upgraded upon arrival as a Platinum member to the Atelier room, in the historic part of the hotel with a room facing the church park. The room itself was spacious and splendid, and filled with thoughtful amenities like a sleeping kit, shoe shining kit, and sewing kit. The bathroom was a work of art. The tub could easily fit two adults or four overly energetic children. Staff and service were incredible, definitely worthy of a luxury hotel, on par with what I've experienced at the Ritz Carlton and the St. Regis. Every single person I spoke to was attentive, helpful, and genuinely friendly. I also felt well-treated as a Platinum Bonvoy member, which I'm sure they get graded on, so let me just say if Marriott is reading this the St. George gets a 10/10 across the board. From the front desk staff who helped me book a complimentary sauna visit and a complimentary breakfast, to the bartender who served me my complimentary welcome drink, to the spa staff who showed me around the facilities, the service was top notch. Major shoutout to the restaurant staff - I wanted for nothing during my breakfast. This was one of those hotels where you really feel as if your Marriott status actually means something šŸ˜‚ Platinum members also get late 4pm checkout, but I didn't use it since I had an early ferry. Overall I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Location is perfect for both Ferry Terminal West and the Train Station to the airport. Also right at the end of the esplanade, in the heart of downtown. And being across the street from the Stockman's is dangerous for the wallet!

Luxury redefined. It's a different kind of luxury combined with wellness. There is a strong sense of art and beauty which you can see from the effort taken in every detail of the furnishing design and in your stay experience. This is evident throughout the customer experience route map which created an exquisite experience that differentiates the property from others. The hotel focus on a wellness lifestyle and provides guest with a comfortable and relaxing ambience that supports living well for optimal human performance - A 24-hour gym and spa facilities side by side. This property is now in one of my highly desired lifestyle locations. The spa facilities are top notch and excellent. Having stayed in so many properties around the world, It is quite rare to find a hotel with such good spa facilities which include a indoor relaxing pool that you can dip in, a cold plunge pool to use with the hot and dry saunas. It is a lifestyle treat to your soul. The designer amenities by La Brucket are of high quality which compliments the hotel theme. Location of the hotel is very good, convenient and centralised. It is near the main shopping street (Right opposite the road) and it is peaceful and quiet at night. Regretted staying only one night even though I managed to squeeze in 2 spa experiences and a gym routine. It is too short. Will definitely be back for more when I am back again in Helsinki.

MARRIOT CATEGORY 5 HOTEL ST GEORGE HELSINKI IS A CATEGORY 5 IN TERMS OF LARGE BEAUTIFUL HALLWAYS & GLASS LIFTS BUT A 3 STAR HOTEL INSIDE THE ROOMS! Adverts for this Hotel are 90% Inconsistent between the Pictures of the Rooms & What is Allocated upon Check-in. Hotel ST George is a Member of the HELSINKI CHAIN KAMP COLLECTION HOTELS & A MEMBER OF MARRIOT BONVEY for the ONLY GOAL OF CLIENT ACCESS TO UK/USA/INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS DATABASE. Hotel St George Helsinki the Focus is not about YOUR STAY AS A PAYING CUSTOMER, ITS NOT ABOUT YOUR COMFORT INSIDE THE ROOMS OR GREAT FOOD AFTER 9PM. I booked a Cozy Studio, 1 Queen, Garden View the Pictures had a beautiful work area & a Separate adjoining area room, for comfort, a beautiful stacked shelf of books & ample room area. After Marriot Central Reservations booked the room I rang the Hotel Reception & Mentioned I am ALLERGIC TO DUSTY BEDSPREADS / DUSTY COUCH PILLOWS ON THE BED because these items are not Changed daily. I explained my Preference is A FEATHER FREE ROOM, Just the WHITE BEDSHEETS, WHITE DUVET COVER, & WHITE PILLOW CASES. & NO DUSTY BEDSPREADS. The Reception Staff Tone is Extremely Professional but that is where it ENDS, THE Hotel St George Helsinki cannot execute Simple Instructions. Upon Check-in THE BOOKED STUDIO turned out to be a SIMPLE SINGLE ROOM, WITHOUT ANY COMFORT, WITHOUT A WORKAREA DESK, NO A TABLE TO EAT MY ROOM SERVICE, the room had A CHEAP DUSTY BEDSPREAD / DUSTY COUCH PILLOWS, ON THE BED, EVEN THOUGH I RANG THE HOTEL EARLIER & SENT AN EMAIL. I HAD TO GET RECEPTION TO CHANGE THE BEDSHEETS / DUVET COVER. After 9pm the In-Room Dinning Service Menu is awful, full of Cheese Sandwiches, A Cauliflower & Trout Soup, Air dried Tomatoes & Green Leafs. The In-Room Dinning after 9pm is what You get offered in a 2-3 Start Hotel that does not CARE about Your Diet the Customer. So I order the Cauliflower & Trout, I was told they have RAN-OUT of Soup, Lazy Hotel that cannot even be bordered to make SOUP, its all about CHARGING THE CUSTOMER. After 9pm No Fish, No Steak, No Caesar Salad, No Club Sandwich, No-Soup on the Menu & they want UK/USA/INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS TO PATRONIZE THIS HOTEL & PAY €460 Per Night for a SINGLE UNCOMFORTABLE ROOM & OF COURSE LARGE BEAUTIFUL HALLWAYS & BEAUTIFUL GLASS LIFTS. Don't You get it Hotel St George Helsinki, SPG IS ALL ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS. So what Rights & Benefits to the Customer, does the Hotel St George Helsinki have to advertise & Charge €460 per night or 35,000 Points for a Single room without a Workarea, No table to Eat Room Service food, but advertised with misleading Pictures as a Cosy Studio. Long Term SPG Customers, Directors, Senior Level Management, UK/USA/INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TRAVELLERS , if You have been travelling on Business Trips & Staying with SPG / Carlton Ritz do not get ripped-off I am writing this Review with Sincerity because If any Hotel is in the SPG, CARLTON RITZ & MARRIOT BONVEY Programme then the HOTEL SHOULD MEET THE EXPECTATIONS. All new Business Trip & Nordic Travellers may think Hotel St George Helsinki is 5/5 its because you don't know any better. A 5 Start Hotel is not about Large Beautiful Hallways, Its not about Fancy Glass Lifts, Chesse Sandwiches on the Menu for in room-dinning after 9 pm & we run-out of Cauliflower & Trout, I will advertise a Cosy Studio but allocate the Customer A Single Uncomfortable Tiny Room 308 on the 13th...

Honest Helsinki Hotel Reviews

Now that corona is doing it's damage all over the world we thought with my wife to start checking hotels here in our home city. We are frequent travelers and seen the world a lot but only been in few hotels here in Helsinki. October we decided that we go hotel once a month and see hotel scene here in our home city.

These are our thoughts after spending a night in St George. We stayed in sky attic studio 711 which we can recommend wholeheartedly as it was really spacious.Ā  Views from window were nothing special but we heard that some rooms have views to a nice park and old church which is just front side of the hotel. Sadly those sky attic rooms are not as big as 711 so you need to choose between space or the views. Bed was comfy and we slept fine even though we watched a horror movie just before sleeping. Room was clean and quiet.

Tv had chromecast so you could use your phone to watch netflix, amazon and so on which was nice feature and well nowadays it is somewhat norm and should be found in every four or five star hotels all over the world. Tv by the way had also soundbar .

There was remote controlled skylight in a roomĀ  from which you could see night sky but sadly we only did see clouds as it was raining that night. Bathroom was spacious and had japanese style of toilet. Special note that bathroom has also a speaker so you can turn the music on from tv and listen it while having a shower or well whatever you decide do in bathroom. Shampoos and soaps were in big bottles.

There was no kettle in our room but i think you can have one if you just ask. Well there was soda stream machine but we are not big fan of sparkling water so it was just a curiosity for us. Minibar had the basics. Wines, soft drinks and some snacks. As it was my wife birthday I had also requested some sparkling wine, chocolates and roses and all those were waiting for us when we came. Wife was pleasantly surprised and you can see her reaction also from the youtube video review Honest Helsinki Hotel Reviews. Staff was very friendly especially in the restaurant when were were having a breakfast even though breakfast was surprisingly basic for 5 star hotel.

I tried spa and spa had couple of swimming pools and saunas. Steam and normal finnish one. Little lounge area in spa was nice and it was possible to buy some refreshments like tea, non alcohol drinks and some others. Water and fruits were free. Overall its nice little spa which makes a good addition to already nice hotel.

Hotel has gym but it's really small and there's not much of equipments. When traveling abroad it's very important for me but now doing these staycations here in Helsinki it's not that must or important.

Hotel has also bakery if you want to try some finnish delicacies. We took mud cake, matcha latte and cappuccino. Wife didn't think much of her latte but my cappuccino was good and cake we shared was delicious.

Highlights of the hotel - +++ Spacious room ++ Comfortable bedĀ  ++ Spa Room for improvement --- Really basic breakfast -- Small gym - Hotel had no character.

Special note - Hotel has...

The hotel can look quite nice , clean and with a touch of history. But the service is very bad. And far away from 5 stars. During my staying there I mentioned several time my disappointment due to different reason -spa in a five star hotel close at 6 and you can joint 30 minutes per person ( 20 minutes of sauna , 10 in pool ) like you were in army and not there to relax, but to get stress looking at the time. No pragmatism : at six one lady turned off the light in the sauna without inform . Then start screaming ā€œolemme kiinni ā€œ good example Of elegance and courtesy. They say it’s due to coronavirus, but that’s just and excuse ! Because the virus can circulate even before 6 pm.

the room quite nice and clean , but has no coffee machine with capsule as 5* they offer the boiler like when you are in camping and to prepare a filter coffee it’s quite annoying for two reason: the cup are not enough big and practical to contains ā€œthe special ā€œ filter they offer. And the boiler was leaking water, so our pc had risked to be damaged .

the service at the breakfast was quick and lovely made by one greek man and his colleague.but the breakfast still not at the level of five stars . Sausages cold, no good choice in sweets and very poor. Eggs should be at least made fresh in a hotel who pretend to have standard but those cold as well .to compensate the cold food , air conditioned temperature set like we were in africa. So we started sneezing because the chill.

But the worst thing can happen in a 5 * stars Hotel is : -THE MANAGER WAS ABSENT ALL SUNDAY AND MONDAY MORNING! ?and no one to replace him/her . Can you imagine something like that in a Five stars hotel ? And when I asked to talked to him, one woman at the reception invited me to follow her in a different room to discuss about my disappointment and noting my feedback on paper. - like a school - once got all my disappointments she didn’t compensate in anything, the only thing she could say was ā€œI’m sorry , thanks for the feedback ā€œ

In conclusion : perfect hotel for Finns who come from the countryside and they believe to live the experience of a five stars hotel because they didn’t see anything else .

If you are staying in Helsinki I suggest to all the visitors to go to Clarion Hotel in jatkasaari , 10 minutes by walk from the centre, very good breakfast, very cozy room with view, spa with swimming pool on the rooftop and sauna . (110 breakfast included) Nothing to envy to a hotel like st George who pretend to be example of service and standards ....
