I recently had the pleasure of embarking on a 4-hour aurora hunting adventure with Sunny Safari in Rovaniemi, and it was truly a remarkable experience.
The itinerary, encompassing three distinct locations including a suspended wooden bridge over a grand river and a vast frozen lake, showcased the breathtaking beauty of the Northern Lights. The thoughtful planning of the journey away from the city center added a sense of exclusivity to the adventure.
Sunny Safari's commitment to providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience in the Arctic cold was evident through their provision of special clothing and boots, a cozy cabin with a crackling fire, hot beverages, and a delightful barbecue with sausages and marshmallows. The attention to detail in ensuring the warmth and well-being of the participants was truly commendable.
A standout feature of this expedition was the professional photography services offered at each spot, capturing not only the enchanting aurora but also the moments leading up to it. The inclusion of a guide, in this case, Carlos, elevated the experience to new heights.
Carlos, our guide, deserves special recognition for his exceptional qualities. He exuded warmth, attentiveness, and a genuine care for our well-being throughout the journey. Carlos's extensive knowledge and unwavering confidence were reassuring, making the entire adventure feel not only thrilling but also safe.
What stood out the most was Carlos's ability to respect our personal space and moments of reflection, adding a personalized touch to the experience. His adept driving skills, marked by a sense of security and prudence, further enhanced our confidence in the journey.
Having participated in aurora hunts before, I can confidently say that this was, by far, the best experience I've had. I wholeheartedly recommend Sunny Safari, especially for those seeking an unforgettable aurora borealis adventure, and I attribute much of the success of my journey to the exceptional guidance...
Read moreWe did the Aurora Borealis Trip in Lapland Lakeside (4h) in the beginning of November, and it really wasn’t that great… The best part of it was Luigi, our guide, who was a super nice and friendly guy. He explained us briefly how the aurora is formed and how to take pictures of it with our smartphones. So thumbs up for Luigi! Also, the location and the lake where the cabin is seem to be a good location for spotting the aurora, if you are lucky for it to appear in the short time you stay there. Everything else was not really that good. The least good fact was that the company organises multiple tours at the same time. So at the lake we were probably 4 groups who met there at the same time. We were around 20-30 people gathered inside a cabin waiting for the Aurora to show up, so naturally it was quite a noisy mix of languages that was making it feel like you are inside a market. So it was really too crowded and this aspect was not clearly specified in the activity description. The barbecue consisted of 1 thick hot dog which you had to cook it yourself on a stick. Don’t get me wrong, this would be a fun experience. But when there are 20-30 people trying to cook their sausage on a relatively small fire, it kind of looses its charm. We also had some warm berry juice or chocolate, and a couple marshmallows. Also the activity lasted for less than 3 hours (probably around 2 hours and a half at most, including the drive). So overall, even if it is one of the cheapest aurora tours, I am not sure if it is really worth it. I think you may be better off paying a little bit more for a tour with fewer people, and lasting for a...
Read moreJust AWESOME. We scheduled a one hour Snowmobile tour via Viator/Sunny Safari and it did not dissapoint. If anything, I'd recommend booking a longer experience. Carlos, our friendly and amazing tourguide (from Colombia, salud! Carlos if you read this) really did a fantastic job. From the moment of pick-up he was friendly and in for a bit of a talk (I always enjoy chatting up to some 'locals'). He was clear with his instructions, didn't mind a question or joke here or there- and asked us for which kind of ride we would like. My family (me, my oldest sister, dad and nephew) we enjoy a speedy ride, but we also enjoy a good view. So, we said a bit of both, but we do enjoy speed! ;-) Our group existed of another couple from Germany. So a total of 4 snowmobiles, including our guide Carlos. And it was everything we hoped for and more. It was astonishing ride, with areas of flat surface where we could really pick up some speed, there were bumps, and hills and turns (some slippery), but with the clear instructions of Carlos and the use of handsignals, everything went smoothly. At the halfway-point we could take pictures, enjoy a local hot berry drink and gingerbread cookie (provided by our guide) and switch drivers (if willing, which we did). All in all, like I said. An ABSOLUTE MUST. If you visit Rovaniemi, and I highly recommend Sunny Safari for giving you an experience you won't forget!
The snowmobiles were amazingly comfortable and relatively easy to drive (we did have some experience with ATVs/Jetskis) and Sunny Safari also provides the necessary gear needed for the ride), a...
