Patrick Roger is a Paris based, high-end chocolatier with three shops around the city, including this branch at Place de la Madeleine. This is a a place for those looking for serious chocolates during visits to Paris. Opening hours are 10.30am to 7.30pm daily.
One of the interesting things I like about Patrick Roger chocolatier shops is the chic decor, teal-green colour scheme and impressive large scale chocolate sculptures on display within their shops. This particular shop had a primate skull on display, an odd but very nice chocolate work of art.
There are plenty of staff in the shop, they can help you pick out individual chocolate pieces which you can purchase by the weight. Alternatively, you can buy box sets and tins of single origin chocolates. I enjoy the 75% Venezuela chocolate, purchasing several tablettes to take back home to Hong Kong.
Note: Staff are very good with packaging, providing sturdy, travel friendly green bags which can be packed easily and well in your luggage before...

As we chose and paid, the next costumer (a white woman) was offered in front of us from a different box, an assortment of milk chocolate samples. Left...
Read moreHAD THE WOST experience at Patrick Roger, and I am genuinely shocked at the level of service provided. The staff were not only dismissive but outright rude. store was overcrowded, yet the sales staff seemed more interested in chatting behind the counter than assisting customers. The lack of professionalism and basic courtesy was astonishing for a place that markets itself as high-end. This experience was beyond disappointing, and I cannot in good faith recommend this store to anyone. I thought it would be a good souvenir for my friends back home. But damn, the chocolates are good but not mind blowing and wow I absolutely had their...
