We are halfway through our 6 day stay and I can't wait for it to be over. My husband this hotel because of the historic rooms advertised on their website. On arrival, we were told that only a small number of rooms look like the ones online -- all the others are quite plain with either very small windows or else facing the loud courtyard (every Thurs - Sat there are DJs until 12:30am, and the sound is amplified in the courtyard).
Our room (which is not the least expensive tier - I don't even want to know what those are like) is miserable, with almost no natural light and extremely low ceilings. The staff offered to switch us, and showed us other rooms that weren't any nicer than the one we had; the historic rooms were occupied. It's a bait and switch: what you see on the website - pleasant rooms, quiet, sophisticated atmosphere - is not what you get.
Then, the service is not at all in keeping with 5-star status. Many small things were forgotten, again and again -- condiments with meal (we're ordered room service four times so far and each time something was forgotten), a steamer that was supposed to be in the room (which arrived too late for me to use it on a morning before a meeting), pods for the nespresso machine. For each thing you have to call the front desk and wait 30-60 minutes for someone to bring it up. The staff are poorly trained -- housekeepers barge in without knocking, ignoring tags on the door, forgetting to stock things each time. Each day brings multiple inconveniences.
There is very little closet space, so we aren't even able to unpack -- most of our clothes are still in the luggage, which are lying open on the floor so that we have to step around them, with crease-prone garments strewn over chairs.
None of these issues are one-off, bad luck events -- they are part of the hotel itself, so any future experience is likely to be very similar. So, if having a pretty room is important to you, or if you prefer reliable service, I recommend looking elsewhere. We visit Paris twice a year, and we always stay in 5-star hotels -- there are many in the city, obviously. This has been our worst experience in many years. We should have paid more attention to the low reviews, but sometimes you think it's just a few picky individuals. I actually wonder whether the positive reviews were either guests who were upgraded rooms when the hotel newly opened - at least one review states explicitly that they were - or else travellers who haven't experienced many 5-star hotels in Paris? I could say more: the food at La Chambre Bleue is quite bad, the shower leaks water all over the bathroom floor, there seem to be frequent private events in the courtyard which means constant loud music and commotion, the linens are scratchy (discomfort is in the brand DNA - makes perfect sense actually), the bar is sad and always empty...but you get the picture. This is very, very far from 5-star status; depending on how the rest of the stay goes, I may actually contact Atout France.
Tonight we will dine at Arpège, which hopefully will take away some of the sour taste in our mouths which Maison Delano has caused. Needless to say we will not stay here again. It's causing us only pain,...
Read moreWhat a wonderful hotel and wonderful experience we just had staying at Maison Delano Paris. I have the American Express platinum and found this hotel through their Fine Hotels and Resorts collection. We didn’t need to take advantage of the early check-in or late check out (but they would of course honor!)… but they did offer us the room upgrade, give us daily breakfast for 2, $100 credit, etc. Everything about this stay was amazing. Seen some people with not great reviews but I don’t think they understand what the difference is between a 5 star boutique hotel in Paris should be like compared to say a 5 star hotel on say the Las Vegas strip… 2 very different experiences (but both amazing 😊)!||Everything you would expect from a 5 star boutique hotel in Europe, hotel Maison Delano Paris not only delivered on but far exceeded expectations. It’s the little things like a pleasant check-in experience with Santiago who was so very sweet and escorted us and showed us our room and its features… to the handwritten welcome note left in our room… to the complimentary bottle of wine and water on arrival… nightly turn down service with little chocolates, beautiful hotel room, and every type of toiletry that you may need being offered to you at your disposal. ||Booking through Amex also included a phenomenal wine tasting at the restaurant downstairs. This was our first experience at the restaurant and the sommelier was not only outstanding but fun to converse with as we got lost in the beauty of the food/wine/hotel 🙌. The chef earned a Michelin star in Spain before coming to Paris… I would not be surprised if he earned one at this location in the near future. The octopus paella was out of this world. Ate a 42 euro croque mosieur that was mind blowing and worth it as well. 3 different options for breakfast but all essentially included bread (w/ jam, Nutella, etc) eggs, avocado, any beverage…. Bar downstairs was not only convenient but had great craft cocktails. Cannot stress how much we loved the food and drinks at this hotel when you have so many options in Paris and very close by!||We had let’s just say not a great time getting to Paris… pulling up to this haven took my breath away. This was our 3rd 5 star hotel on this trip and everything from check-in, the food, the room, etc was excellent… by far our favorite!||Shout out again to Santiago who made us feel like the Delano was our home away from home (and more), the entire hotel staff at the Delano, the chef, the sommelier, the restaurant staff, the bar staff…. And I mean I guess literally everyone who works at this gem of a hotel…. We had an amazing experience thanks to you and cannot wait to return! 💜||Location 10/10 (shoppers paradise… just steps away from any designer you could possibly want/in the 8th)|Food 10/10 (not only is in house restaurant amazing but so many other places right near the hotel)|Bar 10/10 |Service 10/10 (🫶)|Value...
Read moreWe stayed for 7 nights earlier in July 2023 and loved it. I’ve been a fan of Delano Miami so when we found the property in Paris we booked it through Amex Travel. The only disconnect between Amex & the property website was bed size - we specifically searched for hotels with Kings and it came up in our search on Amex, but the Hotel site states most of the rooms have doubles. Our room ended up having a King so I’m unsure if that’s what they call a Double there or if the hotel site has incorrect bed size details or that they offer both sizes.
The bilingual staff went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful stay. They cleaned our room every day, the Bell Staff were helpful with directions, the front desk helped to print off event tickets & restaurant staff were friendly, professional & attentive. The restaurant itself is fantastic - for breakfast or dinner! We checked out their bar a couple of nights - cocktails were smashingly delicious & the truffle cashews they serve them with, will satisfy all truffle cravings! Bar staff are excellent & the bar selection is vast.
Hotel location is great. Near all the top tier brands for shopping - Chanel & Cartier are right around the corner. Great restaurants, bars & art galleries within walking distance. Located on a quiet street and surrounded by 4 global embassies so there’s quite the military & police presence - if safety is a concern, the location has that part covered.
Room was well appointed and the mattress was extremely comfortable. Great lighting for reading plus switches next to both sides of the bed controlling different lights in the room which helped at night. Our room faced the quiet street - not the courtyard - and it was library quiet on the 4th floor - loved that. The rainfall shower head with separate hose/spray with and endless supply of hot water was very welcome after long days walking around & late night dinners. Plus the bath products were fantastic. The toilet had a warm seat - ooh la la - and a bidet. Lots of drawers in the room to put things away, good seating with a nice balcony with seats & a table. I had read in another review that the sheets weren’t soft and in response the Hotel stated the sheets were from the DNA line, similar to Miami - I would agree with the reviewer, the sheets are not the softest, DNA needs to go - they need to be softer and that’s probably the only downside to the room.
I would definitely stay at Maison Delano again and look forward to checking out their other properties as they continue to expand...
