Eleven Kebab — Local services in Karlsruhe

Less than 150m away there are competitors that have longer opening hours, a bigger menu, larger space, are cheaper and have less waiting time, but Eleven Kebab manages to be the favorite among my friends and myself. Why is it so good? The ingredients are fresh. They put a lot of care into assembly, every Döner gets lemon juice from a fresh slice squeezed on it and the secret sauce. Everything is simple, one type of freshly baked bread and one type of meat, no unnecessary choices. A friend put it best when he said "the last bite tastes as good as the first." It tastes amazing and feels like a healthy and full meal. I'm assuming that it is family operated and they are very friendly and welcoming. The döner is priced aggressively and offers the best value of any döner I ever tried. Plenty other döner are more expensive while not even coming close to this one in terms of taste.

It reminds me of the tiny and humble restaurants in japan, because it is located in the entrance of a residential building and because all the focus on mastering their craft and serving their customers.

After giving 3 stars to Eleven, the owner asked about the reason.

They do deserve an honest review; so let me simply wrap up:

First negatives: -They only have chicken and no veal kebab. -The seating area is small and dark and feels untidy. And it’s not clear at the beginning that they so have seating area. -The waiting time is long for a fast food. I have to give credit to the fact that the two guys working there are very friendly and nice, they do their best. And the fact that they bake the bread in house might slow them down. But still, waiting in the cold Karlsruhe weather wasn’t pleasant.

Now positives: -Great taste (I gave them a 4/5) -Very friendly staff and nice owner -Special sauce -Affordable price for a great quality -Good location

Neuer Stern am Kebap-Himmel

Wieder einmal ein neuer Döner-Laden in der Kaiserstraße. In direkter Konkurrenz zum Kaisergrill und K2 befindet sich nun der "Eleven Kebap". Optisch ein klassischer Döner-Laden mit ein paar Tischen und Stühlen um im Freien sitzen zu können. Es gibt auf der Karte auch ein paar Gerichte, welche es nicht überall gibt. Da wäre z.B. der Chili Cheese Döner, welcher bei meinem Besuch leider aus war. Aber auch für Vegetarier gibt es eine Alternativen: Greenbox vegetarisch oder Green-Teller (mit u.a. Green-Plant-Chicken Nuggets, Green-Plant-Chili Nuggets und Falafel).

Service: Die beiden Herren im Service waren beide sehr freundlich. Da unsere 2-jährige Tochter Lust auf einen Salat hatte, wurde auch dieser extra für sie zubereitet, obwohl es so nicht auf der Karte steht. Das war kinderfreundlich und sehr flexibel. Das Essen hat für einen Kebap-Laden etwas länger als im Durchschnitt gedauert, was aber dadurch zu erklären ist, dass das Brot frisch zubereitet wird, wie uns im Vorfeld schon erklärt wurde. Insgesamt eine sehr positive Erfahrung. Schade war, dass ich den Chili Cheese Döner nicht probieren konnte, da wir aber abends dort waren, hatte ich wohl einfach Pech. - 4/5

Essen: Ich habe mich für den klassischen Döner im Fladenbrot entschieden. Die Soße war sehr gut, die Zutaten alle frisch. Gehört für mich zu den besseren Soßen in Karlsruhe. Das Brot war wie bereits erwähnt selbst gemacht, was seinen Teil zu dem guten Döner beitrug. - 4/5

Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis: An diesem Tag hatte ich Glück und bekam den Döner aufgrund einer Sonderaktion für nur 4,50€ (normal laut Karte 5.50€). Entsprechend kann ich beim Preis volle Punktzahl geben. Wenn man bedenkt, dass der Döner inzwischen fast flächendeckend bei 6,50 angekommen ist, hatte ich einen sehr guten Döner für einen mehr als fairen Preis. - 5/5

Fazit: In dieser Region der Kaiserstraße für mich seit diesem Besuch die Döner-Variante Nummer 1 in Karlsruhe. Mich haben damals weder K2 noch Kaisergrill wirklich überzeugt. Die Gastgeber sind sehr bemüht, kinderfreundlich und das Brot wird frisch...
