I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Pidalio tavern that completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that set the stage for an amazing culinary experience.
The menu boasted an impressive array of options, catering to various dietary preferences. Whether you're a fan of fish, meat, or prefer vegetarian dishes, this place has you covered. As a seafood lover, I couldn't resist trying their fish dishes, and they did not disappoint. The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The meat options were equally enticing, offering a delightful variety of traditional Greek preparations that left my taste buds in awe. Even the vegetarian dishes were a delightful surprise, showcasing the rich flavors of Mediterranean cuisine.
One aspect that truly stood out was the portion sizes. Each dish was incredibly generous, ensuring that no one leaves hungry. It's rare to find such value for money in a restaurant, especially considering the exceptional quality of the food. The prices were more than reasonable, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy a satisfying Greek feast without breaking the bank.
However, it wasn't just the delicious food that impressed me. The service was outstanding throughout my visit. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were more than happy to provide recommendations and accommodate any dietary restrictions. It was evident that they genuinely cared about ensuring their guests had a memorable dining experience.
In conclusion, this Greek restaurant is a hidden gem that I wholeheartedly recommend. With its delectable range of dishes, generous portions, affordable prices, and top-notch service, it has quickly become one of my favorite spots to satisfy my Greek food cravings. Whether you're a fan of seafood, meat, or vegetarian cuisine, this place will surely leave you delighted and eager to come...
Read moreI honestly think this is the rudest service I have had here in Greece, and we have lived in Athens for two months now. The waiters barely wanted to talk with us. It took them quite a long time to take our order, and my husband said they made a face when they had to seat us. The eggplant and tomato sauce was great, but when I tried to let the waiter know we enjoyed it, he didn't look at us and responded with an arrogant shrug. When my daughter tried to wave at him, after he cleaned some plates, he didn't notice because he was too busy getting away from the table. The pasta with chicken and mushrooms were very underseasoned and the cabbage with yoghurt sauce was bland, despite it having carrot, raisins and pine nuts. Nobody asked us how the food were, not even when they cleared the plates. Nobody but the other guests talked (or even waved or smiled) to our daughter. We have never experienced that here in Greece, and it made us feel really unwelcome. The only time we caught a sort-of-smile was when we asked for the bill. There is a saying in the restaurant business, that a good waiter can really save a bad dish, but a good dish cannot save a bad waiter. I think that truly applies here. I don't know if it was just an off day, or if it was the italian genetics pushing through, but I will not come back next time I...
Read moreI came alone to eat on a Saturday night. The busiest by far on that street.
Came without a reservation and I'd recommend in larger parties either coming early, or stopping by earlier in the day to make one.
I ordered: fish stew (to go), and the stuffed squid. Drank the house white wine promoted in their menu.
The fish stew was by far the best one I've had. Made with onions, carrots, celery, and potatoes. The stew was nice and hearty and came out hot.
Stuffed Squid: squid itself was a bit overcooked. Stuffing was great - quinoa, raisins, sweet peppers that accompanied a lemon sauce to give a nice tangy compliment. If the squid was a bit more tender I'd say this would've been fantastic.
House white wine - tasted great. I think Nafplio is known for their wines. Nice and dry, with a hint an acidic fruit-like aftertaste. (clearly i don't know wines). for 5 euros would be crushing a few more glasses.
Service: I get for a Saturday night service, they're at their most busiest, but it seemed like some of them just outright didn't want to look at you at times. Intentionally tunnel visioning when dropping off food, then straight back to service area. Saw them wave off some folks that would come up to ask to pay for the bill. The speed of service in Greece as a standard is what'd I'd compared to West Coast...
