A great find surprisingly close to the center of the new city. Tucked away in a little lane this establishment serves up all the Cretan classics like in chania. The service is extremely friendly with some really nice guys who take the time to talk through the fresh dishes of the day. The fried olives and oranges were a great start followed by some Cretan salad (tomatoes, capers, and fresh soft mizithra cheese). The wild greens and fava paste were also really good, served with some freshly toasted sourdough bread and olive oil. The prices are fair, slightly on the pricier end for small plates (compared to the old town, but still relatively well priced) considering the location.

Nice tavern, with a lot of energy and a lively atmosphere. Usually younger ages go there. In the summer months, there are several tables outside as well. Staff very kind, their dishes are good without anything special. The smoked steak is very nice though. Also their raki is just good, I've had better ones, but I've certainly had many worse ones in Thessaloniki. The prices are good, maybe a little bit higher but for a tavern of this style and with many students.

What a place ! In the very center , yet quiet street. The tables are small café tables , nothing promising at a first glance and then …. the FOOD comes ! AMAZING traditional cuisine from Crete. Tasteful, perfectly balanced dishes. Our picky kids had 3 plates of Cretan carbonara !! (Just magaged to take a pic before it was gone) Served with a smile and kind word . Fantastic place! And the music from the bar next door is definitely a bonus too 🤩

"The Cretan Café" in Thessaloniki is a delightful restaurant that serves some of the most delicious Cretan dishes in the city. One dish, in particular, that stands out is their Cretan snail dish.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a traditional Cretan theme, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and they are happy to make recommendations and answer any questions you may have.

The Cretan snail dish is an absolute must-try. The snails are cooked to perfection, and the flavors are simply amazing. The dish is served with a generous amount of olive oil, herbs, and spices that really bring out the flavors of the snails. The dish is also accompanied by freshly baked bread, which is perfect for dipping into the olive oil and soaking up the flavors.

Aside from the snail dish, the restaurant has an extensive menu of Cretan cuisine. The portions are generous, and the quality of the food is top-notch. Some other must-try dishes include the lamb with artichokes, the Cretan salad, and the traditional cheese pie.

The prices at The Cretan Café are reasonable, and the quality of the food and service is excellent. Overall, if you're looking for a great Cretan restaurant in Thessaloniki, The Cretan Café should definitely be at the top of your...

I went to this restaurant twice with my friends during our travels in Thessanoliki as recommended by a local. Each time, we were blown away by the friendly service and lively atmosphere. We all enjoyed the food, and even ordered certain items for a second time during our second visit. We also received a complimentary dessert and liquor each time, which I believe is common in Greece. The food portions were satisfying and tasted amazing. The second visit especially the servers were attentive in helping us choose items and making sure we left on time for the airport to catch our flight home. However, I unfortunately got food poisoning on my second visit after eating the Pancetta (signature dish), which no one else in my party had and I had not ordered this before. I hope this was a one-time incident, but this was an unpleasant experience as I was nauseas during my flight back home and I was immediately throwing up when I returned from the airport. So, maybe avoid any meat dishes. Otherwise, everything was great. I would...
