Caoba Farms is a beautiful organic farm located in the pretty and peaceful countryside just outside of Antigua. The farm is a pleasant ten to fifteen minute walk from central Antigua but you could also take a tuk tuk or taxi to get there. I decided to walk and was so glad that I did - it was so peaceful and the scenery was gorgeous. The farm was easy to find along the gravel road and there was a large archway and signs at the entrance.
I immediately felt welcomed and at home when I entered through the archway. The farm had a small store where you could find fresh and organic vegetables grown locally on the farm along with other locally-made grocery items and natural products.
There is also a fantastic farm-to-table restaurant on the property where you can eat a variety of delicious homemade dishes using the fresh produce grown there. Rustic wooden tables were situated throughout the grounds and among the trees. It was such a beautiful and natural setting! I ate there for lunch on my last day in Antigua and ordered the salad and strawberry banana smoothie, both of which tasted delicious, flavourful and so fresh. Eating among the beautiful vegetation was so peaceful and relaxing and I loved the atmosphere.
After eating, I enjoyed taking a stroll around the farm on the wood chip pathway which encircled the rows of vegetables and greenhouses. It was interesting to see all the veggies being grown there! There were also some nice murals painted along one of the walls inside the garden.
The farm also apparently hosts a wonderful farmers market on Saturdays where local vendors come out to sell their homemade products, fresh vegetables and more. I will definitely make sure to check this out next time I am in Antigua!
I highly recommend visiting this lovely farm during your time in Antigua. It's a beautiful place worth...
Read moreI’m giving only one star because of an incident I experienced at the restaurant.
First, I want to highlight that the location, food, and ambiance were excellent. My partner and I were having a wonderful time enjoying the food and music. However, the situation took a turn when a waitress accidentally spilled tomato sauce on my clothes. While I understand that accidents happen, what upset me the most was the lack of an immediate apology. I had to approach another waitress to receive a simple acknowledgment, which should have been offered right away.
Additionally, in such situations, it’s common courtesy to extend a small gesture to make up for the inconvenience caused—this could be a complimentary drink or dessert. Unfortunately, nothing of the sort was offered, leaving me feeling that the incident was poorly handled.
I strongly recommend training your staff to better handle such situations in the future. I truly enjoyed the restaurant and hope this was an isolated case. Unfortunately, for me, the ruined outfit meant I had to cut my plans short and return home, which put a damper on what could have been a great day.
Best regards,
Pablo

Read moreWhen you arrive, the entrance has vendors lined up selling chocolate, soap, honey, books, etc. This was a fun experience before heading to the restaurant.
RESTAURANT: Excellent. The ingredients are always fresh since they are harvested right on site. I had the buffalo burger and it was succulent, along with the potatoes and arugula salad. After eating, you are free to explore the farm on your own.
FARM: There is a nursery/greenhouse that has young plants. Very lovely and relaxing. There are also some lined plants and posted placards about them.
BUTTERFLY HOUSE: It was not as large as I expected to be but it was fun to visit nonetheless. There is a woman inside that can tell you about the life cycle of the butterflies and is more than happy to show you around the plants and point out caterpillars and cocoons (chrysalides). ALERT: If you wanna visit the butterfly house, you must buy them from the store as the woman does not sell them at the entrance.
STORE: It's a nice store with local products, although a lot of it is packaged. They have a wing dedicated only for...
