I can’t find the words to explain the warmth and love I felt at Chabad Antigua from the first moment I came. I had the pleasure of joining CYP on a group trip. We explored so many places, camped out on Fuego volcano, toured for hours around cities on ATV’s and created memories together that will last a lifetime! The rooms at the Chabad house are cozy and remind me of the style and comfort in Israel. The food is NEXT LEVEL AMAZING, the freshness of the vegetables and fruits can’t be compared to anything in North America. Eating kosher abroad has never been this good. Inclusivity is beautiful here and everyone’s style of being Jewish is welcome. The group sessions and conversation with the Rabbi’s were educational in the most special ways. I have never seen a Sephardic Torah in real life, and it’s the most beautiful Torah I have ever seen. It was a pleasure to have Shabbat at the Chabad house with 50 people from all over the world. The experience will stay close to my heart forever. There is always someone new to meet and these friendships can last a lifetime. It’s not goodbye, it’s only see you soon. Daria and Rav Chaim, saying thank you will never be enough…. you are my family and my home away from home. Thank you for everything. Until next time…see you...
Read moreOverall staying at Chabad and booking the Acatenango-Fuego hike through the rabbi were a positive experience. He arranged great prices on shuttles to and from Antigua -- cheaper and more convenient than shuttles I would have arranged independently. The rabbi is a caring and honest person: he took me on a private tour of his (his wife's) herbal garden and was always making sure my needs as a traveler and as his guest were being seen to. The property is beautiful and located just a short walk from the main square, the water in the showers is hot, and the beds are comfortable. The only reason this isn't a five-star review is that for vegetarians the Friday night meal was disappointing. Whereas there were three or four main portions of meat, the vegetarian options were exceedingly limited -- the hummus portions were small, there wasn't enough fish, and basic dishes like beans and potatoes were lacking. It wouldn't have been such a big deal, except that the meal was described as being suitable for vegetarians. Bottom line: Jewish travelers will find a warm and friendly...
Read moreI went to have dinner Kosher food. There was noone else there at the time. I was told at reception to book it online and pay at reception. I ordered and paid and sat waiting over 30 minutes for my baguette with Chicken and small portion of fries. The girl at reception asked how my meal was and was surprised when I had advised that I hadn't eaten yet and that I was still waiting. She went to check and It came at least 15 minutes later. I think they forgot about it. When it came, the chicken in the baguette wasn't even warm. The fried potatoes were hot. I asked for the baguette to takeaway and the cook bought it back for me prepared to go and advised me to heat the chicken up separately in a microwave. I thought that was so cheeky.I explained to her that the chicken wasn't even hot when it was originally brought out to me. She didn't even apologise and responded ok. I paid Q100 for the meal....
