After a long day exploring Antigua, we decided to order takeout from Masil, and it turned out to be one of the best food decisions we’ve made in Guatemala. Even though we didn’t dine in, the quality, care, and flavor of the food shone through from the very first bite.
We ordered the cheyuk ssambab, bulgogi ssambab, and a classic bibimbap for pick up. Each dish was beautifully packed, still fresh and vibrant by the time we got home, and absolutely bursting with flavor. The cheyuk ssambab (spicy pork with lettuce wraps) was perfectly seasoned with that addictive balance of heat, sweetness, and umami that makes Korean food so satisfying. The bulgogi ssambab had melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, with just the right touch of sesame and soy. The bibimbap, colorful and loaded with crisp vegetables, egg, and savory sauce, was comforting and delicious—exactly what we were craving.
What made the experience even more memorable was the service and personal touch. The owner herself came out when we picked up the order, warmly greeted us, and wished us a wonderful meal. Later, she even messaged to follow up, hoping we enjoyed everything. That kind of hospitality is rare and truly sets Masil apart—it felt like dining with family, even though we carried the food home.
Antigua is full of incredible dining options, but Masil stands out as a gem for anyone craving authentic, high-quality Korean food prepared with passion and served with genuine warmth. Whether you eat in, take out, or order delivery, the flavors are consistent, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We’ll definitely be back, not only for the food but also for the kindness that made us feel so welcome.
Highly recommended—five stars...
Read moreMy first Korean meal! And if I lived in Antigua I would be returning. We’d walked past Masil couple of times on the five-minute walk into town and noted that it was busy. So we went around 8pm as people seem to eat early in Guatemala. Still busy with no tables free and a threesome ahead of us… Happily the lady in charge was friendly and accommodating. She proposed we sit at the bar and I’m glad we did: on the other side was the tiny kitchen with the chef working his magic - good ‘restaurant theatre’. Even if a table had come free we’d have stayed put. Our food came in a timely manner and was delicious. I liked particularly the pork dumplings. The vegetarian ones went down equally well at the other end of the bar. Plenty of room behind us so we three were able to talk comfortably. And next to me we had the unoccupied fourth bar stool (where they pass things back and forth and keep menus) on which to put our bags and coats. They’re making quite a success of their new restaurant and I...
Read moreWe walked in with very high expectations due to the great reviews and having the meat dumplings once before. We were greeted so warmly and sat at the bar quickly even though the place was full. Everyone working is beyond kind and warm. While the place is very pretty and comfortable feeling the temperature in the restaurant was almost unbearable, causing us both to be sweating while sitting there. We ordered the vegan dumplings to start which were by far our favorite things and very tasty. Then we ordered the kimchi dolsot and sundubu chigue de mariscos. Both were disappointing if I have to be honest. The flavors weren’t anything special. The kimchi dolsot is basically rice and cheese, while the sundubu is a marisco soup with not a lot of seafood. While the servings are large, paying around Q100 per plate for rice and a sopa is a bit much. I feel as if the flavor isn’t as good as...
