Over the last 8 months, I have had the pleasure of coming to know coffee in Guatemala and Artista de Café is the #1 spot.
Here is my breakdown:
Coffee: top tier. The coffee beans they use are of the highest quality and standards. Additionally, the scientific approach they take to create the perfect cup is mind-blowing. I watch baristas weigh coffee grounds, measure the perfect blend of water and other additives to create an americano, latte, or other mixed drink.
Staff: the staff is perhaps some of the friendliest bunch I have ever met. David is my favorite barista, mainly because the coffee tends to taste a bit more flavorful when he makes it, however they are all highly skilled and trained.
Vibe: The vibe is calm, collected, and minimalistic. The music they play seems to always match how I am feeling in the moment.
Wifi: I have been coming here regularly for just shy of a year and have never had an issue with the wifi.
Overall, Artista de Café will exceed your expectations to a level which is unmatched. I will enjoy the last two weeks I have in Antigua by continuing to come here and support the best coffee shop...
Read moreMost rude service I have ever experienced. After ordering a coffee to-go, I decided to sit down while I waited. It took forever for the coffee to arrive, and while I waited in saw a roach scurrying on the ground. By the time the coffee finally arrived, I decided to continue sitting down and drink the first few sips in the coffee shop. The staff person became extremely hostile and informed me that because I had ordered to-go, I had to leave RIGHT NOW and stood over my shoulder telling me to get out. It was extremely humiliating, particularly when there was a lot of space available in the cafe.
I have no idea what these people are thinking but they clearly should not be interacting with the public. On top of it all, the coffee is burnt and improperly prepared. There are plenty of higher quality places in...
Read moreThis place is ranked at 4.4, but bumped up to 5 for decor and other factors. We were referred to this cafe often by fellow baristas. So, paid homage to this newer but highly respected roastery and cafe. We ordered our usual cappuccino for Q19 (12oz) - fees are a bit higher than other cafes. The cappuccino is served along with rosemary infused water. The cappuccino's espresso has a subtle but fragrant and sweet roast. The cream used was less creamy, but strong enough to elevate the espresso's taste. Now, less talk decor - this place is gorgeous and clearly appreciates continuity of theme. Their colour palette is gold, white, neutral wood tones, and velvet pink with blue. Very stylish and beautiful cafe. WiFi is strong. No AC. Coffee beans are on the high side - Q80 for...
