It would seem unfair to give this hotel an average score but very good seems a bit generous. |The location is just a short walk from the main part of Antigua, so it is very well situated. | We had suite No 6 which is big but the balcony is not private at all and overlooks the central area where the outside dining is- plus a walk way up to the roof terrace. That said it does have a nice hammock that you can relax in.|The room was cavernous and the bed comfortable but little touches missing (there is lovely soap, shampoo/ body lotion in the bathroom but no cotton wool, slippers etc)||The pool is not really a pool- it's within the hotel restaurant so it's only available up till 11am | |The breakfast menu is very limited but it was fine, if you don't like eggs though you may struggle, the waiters were always lovely (but why make them wear such formal stuffy attire?) the outside setting for breakfast (or lunch/dinner) is lovely|we had dinner one night in the "cave" restaurant, the food was great, huge portions...|Had a drink in the bar but felt a little soulless.||The big issue for us was that 2 out of the 3 nights the venue next door played VERY loud music which was not great. at one point I could feel every single vibration of the beat... when we asked at reception they did say "they usually stop by 10pm" which to be fair they did.|Was this hotel awful, absolutely not, there are some great things to like about it but would we stay again, I doubt it, there are other better options in...
Read moreBooked this hotel based on a friend’s recommendation. Loved it! Was milestone birthday visit for us, totally pleased and already planning the next visit this year! We stayed four nights in Suite 7, which was even nicer than described on the website. Quite large, especially for a couple, and was very comfortable. The restaurant was excellent too! Breakfast everyday of our stay was included, and so good was well dressed and English speaking Guatemalan wait staff. We loved it so much, we even had lunch there twice and dinner once! White table cloths during the day, black at night. The food was wonderful, fresh, local, and served in generous proportions. Loved it. ||The concierge and front desk staff were wonderful, professional yet personable. The manager was always around during the day and was super hospitable and helpful with suggestions for places to go and things to do. ||Again, everybody here was wonderful. Don’t forget to visit the rooftop! Views of the city and open day and evenings. ||Note— lots of stone steps, would be tough to navigate if physically disabled. The pool is a lap pool, limited hours, but in a gorgeous setting. Onsite parking if needed. Extremely well round hotel. And within a short walking distance of...
Read moreThis is a place that is hard to describe without experiencing it firsthand. Antigua's beauty is everywhere, but the hotel's beauty is mesmerizing and magical. You are surrounded by caring staff, incredible food, and top-notch service at every level. I have traveled worldwide, and this is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. I want to ensure guests know that Antigua is not a sleepy little hamlet. It does, however, generally shut down most noise by 10:00 p.m. This is especially important as the hotel is next door to a venue hosting multiple weddings and other mic-assisted and DJ-assisted events throughout the year. We were here in the Jan- Feb timeframe, so it is considered high season for North Americans to escape the cold. This was also the high season for weddings and commemorative parties. If you can occupy yourself in town each night until 10:00 p.m., you will never even notice this. As an older traveler, that was sometimes a stretch. But even with this nuisance, it shuts down promptly at 10:00 p.m., no matter what was appreciated and not that hard...
