For a 7-night cruise on RCCL that stopped in Roatan, Honduras I booked a private tour with Real Deal Roatan Tours. Since I booked the tour 1 year out, I received a discount of 10 dollars pp. Thus, the final cost for ziplining, snorkeling, sloth park and horseback riding was 130 dollars pp.
To get to the meeting point just follow the directions and everyone else to the exit. At the exit of the cruise port, there will be a crowd of tour agencies. Everyone there is helpful, just tell any of them what company you are with and they all help each other out so that you can connect with the right company.
When I got to the meeting point, I was surprised to find out that there would be 6 additional people who would be going with me and my 3 children since I paid for a private tour. But I did not want to create a negative experience for my kids and deal with hassle of figuring things out amongst the chaos of the crowd, so I didn’t say anything and just went with it.
The first stop was the sloth park and ziplining. The business is very busy and not well organized. Visiting with the sloths is very cool. We got to hold and take pictures with a baby sloth. The monkeys and the birds were ok. After that, however, we had to wait almost an hour and half to get on the ziplines as there was huge group ahead of us. While the ziplines are really fun, it was already 1 pm by the time we arrived for snorkeling. Snorkeling was ok and it was over by 2:15pm. While I was given the option of doing the horseback riding, I decided to not to do it as the return time for the ship was 4:30 (the proposed itinerary for tour was supposed to have us back at the ship at 2:30pm). I did not want to risk missing our departure time.
Overall, the experience was fun and each of my kids got to do the activity they really wanted to do. The tour guide was kind and friendly and did his best given the circumstances. I do wish, however, that the tour would have been kept private so that I could have had the option to end the snorkeling tour earlier as my youngest son was crying in the water for like 30 minutes.
Bottomline: I would book with this tour agency again. I don’t blame them for the disorganization of another company and the bad luck of having a huge group ahead of us at the zip-lines. But if you book a private tour, I would verify that before you leave for...

We booked the Hug a Sloth tour and added horseback riding. We were a little leery about booking a shore excursion outside the cruise ship, especially since we were 2 women in a foreign country. However, the moment we met our tour guide, Williams, our worries subsided. Williams was truly a gentleman. He always dropped us off at the door, parked the car, and then came back to personally hand us off to the guide at each stop. He even got our tickets and made sure we completed all the necessary liability forms when needed. In addition to the sloth and horseback riding, he took us to 2 popular spots for pictures and stopped at a chocolate factory (we skipped the second chocolate factory and rum factory tours because we wanted to spend some time at the beach). Everywhere we went, he offered to take our pictures (and did a fantastic job) and gave us some history during the car ride. The car was clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned. Williams spoke fluent Spanish so he even helped us haggle at the market stalls. At the end of the tour, he dropped us off at the entrance of Mahogany Beach per our request. He then told us about a nature trail that we could take to get back to our cruise ship. The nature walk was shaded and had several spots for great pictures. We were so happy that he mentioned the trail to us because it was easily missed if you didn't know it was there. I highly recommend Real Deal Roatan Tours if you are looking for a personalized excursion experience. You won't be...
Read moreJust book it! You will not be disappointed. Real Deal Roatan Tours exceeded our expectations in addition was the main highlight of all our cruise port excursions. Mr.Jerry Ramos was our guide and took very good care of me and my family. We booked the (LFK) Little French Key Combo tour which also included AJs Sloth & Monkey park. Taking pictures while holding the beautiful Sloths is a once and a lifetime experience every should do. Thankfully Jerry worked with the park staff to ensure we moved to the front of the line since we still had to get to LFK for our beach day. Upon arriving to LFK, we were escorted to the area through the wild life exhibits and over to the area where you can rent kayaks, snorkel, order food & cocktails. Since we were looking for seclusion, we walked around the island and discovered many private beach areas to relax. The servers were more than willing to provide you with whatever you need. Since the Tour package also included drinks and food, we took full advantage and were not disappointed. We opted for the traditional Honduran plate which included shrimp, chicken, beans rice & slaw. We could not have asked for a better experience and Real Deal Roatan Delivered. Thank you Jerry and Johan for providing my family and I with memories for the books! God Bless you, your families and business. We cannot wait to come back and explore the rest of Roatan. We will...
