On our last day of a three week trip to this magical country, we decided to pop into The Laundromat for a breakfast. The breakfast was mouthwatering delicious and the coffee we had was very good. Food wise, decor wise and for ambience, this restaurant gets all thumbs up.
That said, we walked in, was taken to a table and sat down. The table wasn't cleaned and sugar and breadcrumbs stuck to my wrists and hands. The table was very dirty. I had to get up to try and find something or someone to wipe (and sterilize) the table.
As we were eating there was a man standing in the door waiting for a table, he stared the food right out of my mouth. Not sure why people are lined up by the entrance, I am sure management can direct customers when the restaurant is full. This made me feel like I had to rush and I could not enjoy my breakfast.
Lastly, I stood up, after finishing my coffee and then tried to put on my winter jacket. Both my husband and I was pushed away from our table whilst we were paying and getting ready to leave. Rushed and asked to please move aside whilst they build a table for a big party. The waitress wiping the table whilst my gloves, camera bag and scarf was still on the table. I have never felt so uncomfortable and rushed in a restaurant. I could also see that my husband was uncomfortable.
I have worked in many international restaurants, hotels and bars in my student days whilst I was studying.
Today as a travel journalist, that travel often and visit many establishments, I know that this is definitely not the way to treat guests at a restaurant. This was a very very disappointing experience that spoiled my Sunday morning and the way we were rushed out of this establishment is also now part of the memory of this trip. This left a bad taste in my mouth. I had a different impression of this country...
I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone and would also not advise anyone to go eat there. Terrible terrible way to treat guests at a restaurant. This was a first.
This establishment does not deserve this one star. A very very...
Read moreWe had breakfast here twice while in Reykjavik. The first visit, the waitress was not so friendly with us-- also, she told me to get up to get my own water at the bar. The second visit, a younger waitress was very friendly. The owner was gracious and helpful, but softly complained to me that I asked him for our check, saying that he wrote it in big letters on the menu to pay at the bar. This is an example of not understanding menu science, as customers eating breakfast won't look at the right side of the menu (lunch side), which is where he wrote to pay at the bar. Anyway. The food was very tasty, although the breakfast selections are egg-heavy... I don't eat eggs, so I felt limited in choices. The decor is very nice, photo-worthy. The bathroom sink outside the one stall has no paper towels, forcing you to touch bathroom surfaces with hands that you want to eat with. There are paper towels in the one bathroom stall, but if you exit the stall and someone else jumps in then you have no paper towels. There are people actually doing laundry in the basement, you can sometimes see them carrying in trash bags full of clothes to wash... neat. All-in-all, a good place to get a bite to eat. My girlfriend commented some days later that she really...

Let me start off its quite awkward walking into a cafe with your landery for the first time not knowing if its a themed cafe or a real laundromat? "It is Both so don't worry!"
Its a European style service as in do it your self (if you are used to USA service its not, you are left alone to your own devices, we European like it that way)
As for the prices: LOW to NORMAL pricing for a restaurant in iceland, and cheap for Reykjavik. I have included the menu from today 13/09/2021 with prices included. (Expect to pay 2600~3100ISK per meal at most restaurants in iceland "gas station N1: burger and fries 2400ISK) Viking Beer is about 1200ISK.
We ordered the Super Nacho, and Super Nachos with chicken "see added img" The food was Great and plenty of it. price: 2199ISK and 2699ISK prospectively.
Landery costs 1299ISK per token One token gets you: 1 wash load or 1 dry load
(Do not dump more wash in the dryer than can fit in the washing mashine one is smaller than the other by purpose, "got the feeling the bad reviews did not understand this")
As for pricing its the same i pay in nederlands, washing at home I play 4~8 Euro per wash, same for the food...
