We stayed at Gorizia A La Valigia in Venice for 2 nights in August.
We chose this hotel due to central location, included breakfast and positive reviews.
We loved it.
The location couldn't be better: it's right in the middle between Rialto Bridge and St. Mark Basilica. It takes literally 4 minutes to reach both places from the hotel door.
First tip: please ensure you have Internet signal when arriving in Venice. It's impossible to navigate and find your hotel without a GPS.
Specially if it's your first time there, it's a must. We got lost dragging our bags (we were dropped off at Fondamenta Nuove on our way to the island due to a better schedule while leaving the airport) trying to find the hotel. If you're not in a hurry, try to get the Alilaguna water bus to Rialto instead so it's a 4 minute walk from there.
After trying to find our way for minutes, we finally stopped at a cell phone place where we got 2 SIM cards (which worked in all of Europe) for 30 euros. You could buy them even cheaper from Amazon.
We arrived around noon and were glad to be advised the room was ready. The room was on the 3rd floor and there's a very small elevator but that could only fit the 2 of us and our bags. We never ran into anyone else trying to use the elevators at the same time while we were there.
The room is small (expected) but clean, decorated and had all the amenities one would need (fridge, safe, etc). Bathroom had a shower only (we didn't mind). There's daily room service although we decided not to use it and just exchanged the towels on the second day. Mattress is on the firm side, we were ok with it.
Breakfast has limited options but more than enough to get you started. I like that they ask you to choose your breakfast time since it's a very small place. We TRULY appreciated their flexibility in allowing us to go to breakfast 15 minutes before official start time on the last day (breakfast starts at 7:30 AM in the summer, at least). That allowed us to eat, leave and get the water bus to another location, from where we got the transfer at 8:30 AM to go to our cruise in Ravenna.
Tip: there's a Coop grocery store 3 minutes from the hotel which sells food and drinks at a reasonable price. We used it a couple of times.
I would easily go back to Gorizia A La Valigia if going back to Venice. We LOVED Venice, amazing place to...

Read moreWe arrived at the airport and we had been told that the taxi boat was €7pp this is not true you get the orange line and get off at Rialto and it costs €18 pp for one way it’s about an hour. This hotel is in a prime location 5 minute walk as you get off the boat we arrived about 1015 and we was able to check in which was perfect to freshen up it does say check in from 1400 but if you do get there early try also you need to pay city tax to the hotel this is €3.50 pp per night it does say hotel has satellite TV yes it does and it also says 8 English channels these channels are just news channels no actual TV channels rooms are nice does have air con which helps nice shower the only thing that lets the hotel down is the breakfast boiled scrambled egg and bacon it’s very basic. They do toast yogurts cold meat fruit and a few savoury bits. Hotel is in prime location for walking distance around there is a Spar supermarket literally next to alley at the front you wouldn’t see it as the doorway is backed away a little but that’s very good and cheap for food and drink The gondola rides are a fixed price wherever you go €90 per gondola no bartering. We did a day out at Lido beach we got the taxi boat this was €19 pp for a return trip beach is beautiful sea is warm and clear you can hire a parasol from the shop as you walk in €12 you do need to pay for changing facilities and to use the bathroom don’t get parasol or sun-bed from on the beach these cost €15 for a parasol then another €10 per sun-bed. Watch out for street sellers they will just hand you stuff and then expect you to pay just say no thank you. Don’t eat or drink in Marks Square very expensive go down the alleys or the front where the canal is food is pretty reasonable drinks are quite expensive €15 cocktail some places charge €18 or if your lucky you can get them €8. ice cream is very good €2.50 for one scoop souvenir shops quite reasonable too had an amazing time and would return...
