First ~ have travelled in Japan for 25+ yrs. I can say clearly it is very old, very tired rooms and dirty everywhere. Onsens are built out of concrete and areas not clean. Noisy as on highway and thing walls and windows old and thin. Sea Food was prepped and likely frozen and then re heated as no taste. Intermittent smoke present all over and lobby at night was smokey. futons are old and dirty. The air con is dusty and room deteriorating badly. The onsens are terrible too..old, not clean and just terrible.The room shakes too as big trucks drive by. I doubt its earthquake compliant. Read moreImmediately upon arriving at the ryokan, we were greeted with kindness. My husband and I stayed in a room with our own onsen, and added the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed the private open air bath after our very yummy dinner and took a walk inside the facility. Two smaller indoor private onsens, one large private onsen, and a set of public onsens (one for women, one for men) are available. There is also a ping pong table available to play for a small price. Vending machines with milk (recommended after soaking in the hot spring), beer, sodas, and water.
