はまの民芸品店 — Local services in Hakone

We were there in spring 2023. Me, my wife and our little baby. Due to the bus ride through the mountains, both our daughter and someone else's daughter vomited on the bus. We didn't bring backup clothes by mistake.

When we explained it to the kind old lady in this store in half English, bad Japanese, she understood our situation, due to her slight understanding of English. She was compassionate and helped me pick a little kimono for kids so we could continue our day trip to Hakone. She even gave us a free towel to keep our daughter warm, as it was chilly outside that day.

When we think of Japan, we think of this kind lady that helped us tremendously. Thank you so much and bless your soul.

I was on my way to Hakone shrine when I was attracted by the shop’s large number of zori, Japanese sandals. The old woman who works there was so lovely– she made me souvenir recommendations and explained various items, such as the zori and some hand carved wooden keychains, while also asking me about my trip.
