Apparently the Gold prize winner of the 2024 Karaage Grand Prix, this kind of hidden gem of a place features a mostly karaage-based menu with various toppings and sides.
The price is a little on the heftier side for chicken karaage (roughly twice what you'd pay per weight at a basic konbini or street stall) but man oh man the chicken by itself is almost worth taking the bus rides from hell to get here from Hakone Yumoto station. Incredibly juicy and flavorful, heavy on the seasoning, ideal piece size that's a little bigger than most places, and there's an interesting selection of dipping sauces.

Foreigners or Japanese alike, I hope they will say a respectful gesture /...

It's a dog friendly place with a platter just for dogs! Very cute to see everyone's pets. There also seems to be a resident chubby black cat that goes wherever it pleases.
The food is really good. The karaage is great of course but I also like their sourdough (maybe underproved or the starter wasn't active enough? Still tastes good).
I really like the bright airy feel inside, very farmhouse and rustic. They also have the gas heater pumping in the colder months and it...
