Do not miss this shop if you are looking for unique and locally made souvenir!! Cutesiest shop ever! So glad we found it, it is very tucked away in an alley and easy to miss. Owner are husband and wife duo that are just the most amazing human being ever. They sell cocoon-made figures and they are literally the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. We bought one for ourselves, and two as gifts. The owners even helped us write customized messages on everything. The price is also extremely reasonable - i honestly wish I could pay them more.

Will definitely come back! So glad we didn’t end up buying anything that are...

Saw the “go upstairs” signage, then greeted by lovely elderly lady, and another old grandma while she was hand-making the crafts. Absolutely in love with their creativity using silk cocoons! Love the history of this shop where it was established by their village leader in 1977 to attract tourist to arashiyama. Bought their unique Japanese Wind Chimes made using cast iron, with two adorable cocoon rabbits, and unique japanese cloth hanging at the bottom.

Delightful and cozy shop that sells decorative items handmade from silk cocoons. The objects are made with precision, of high quality and are relatively inexpensive. Purchased items are packaged neatly so that the delicate items are conveniently transported. The proprietors are friendly and engaging and will add handwritten phrases (in Japanese) to the purchased items. The shop is easily missed as it is recessed from the main street.
