I had an amazing experience here with my family. The staff are very nice and the dressing area upstairs was amazing. They had a wide selection of patterns and multiple plans at different price points (we compared with several other shops in the area and their prices are relatively affordable). They have an English binder with pictures to help you select a plan.
I recommend making a reservation at least 1-2 days prior. We came in the day before and were able to make an appointment for noon the next day. When they ask if you would like to use the restroom before getting dressed, I would take the opportunity as it is the last time you can comfortably go until you remove the kimono.
We chose to return it at 6:30 PM the same day, which was plenty of time to take pictures at Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kiyomizudera, and Higashiyama. They also offer options for hotel pick-up or next day returns.
I would like to note that, as you might expect, the kimono is quite restrictive and has many layers making it very hot in the summer. Luckily it was a slightly cooler day, but on hotter days you may want to consider planning in some stops in areas with air conditioning...

They are flexible in that you can change your online reservation package on the day you go in.
When you enter, you can choose from big racks of outfits for the yukata or kimono you want. Then, you select a sash from a large selection. They helped me out a great deal by picking out 4 of the best sashes that would match in order to help me narrow it down, and finally, you choose a bag. There are different types, some wooden basket bags, some cloth bags, all beautiful prints.
If you get your hair done, they take you to the back to change and they do your hair.
Itโs a similar process for the men as well. Overall, I would recommend this place for their great and accommodating service, as well as their beautiful selection of outfits. It was a great...
ย ย ย Read moreMy daughter rented a 4980 yen package, a little bit more expensive but worth the money as the kimono material & pattern and the collar of the underneath layer make the overall look much better. The package also include a purse and coat (for winter). For hair we paid 500 yen, all together plus tax is about 6000 yen, you can rent the kimono for whole day until 6:30. They will hold your belongings for you.
It really makes the different to have the look changed before walk into the beautiful traditional scenery!
