Tobita Shinchi — Local services in Osaka

It is one of three red light districts in Japan.

I enjoy just walking around there personally. There are some small bars and restaurants which are quite old and fun.

It is from a very old Japanese tradition.

You have a tea party with a girl you like, who likes you too. You fall in love. Then you both notice there is a bed in the room. You decide to break up.

There is always a police box (koban) nearby.

Traditionally, from what I have been told, these were used to stop trafficked girls from leaving the area. (Edo, Meiji, maybe earlier).

These days it is nothing like that of course. The girls work because they enjoy tea. However, you will still see the old koban, it may be a very old building or maybe renewed and now is used to protect the area.

One thing about tobita is the girls and guys don't take showers.

Compare to Matsuyamashinchi... A much smaller area with a lot less tea shops. However, a shower before and after. Much cleaner in my opinion although Tobita has a huge selection of shops and it has bars and restaurants. Both are near a shotengai (a covered mall? Lots of shops). Matsuyamashinchi has a nearby convenience store. Tobita has a 5 or 15 minute walk depending on how good you are at asking for directions. ;-)

I would definitely recommend just walking around to see the tradition.

They open from about 3pm and complete close by midnight...

[Please read full review!] 😍 Good: It's heaven on earth. Nowhere on earth have so many beautiful girls been in the same place. Out of 20, maybe 2 will have been "average", and by average I mean still really beautiful but not quite the goddess level the others have. Even if you sat next to them on a train, your heart would start racing.

☹️ Bad: while this didn't happen to me, some other reviews mention the girls being passive, disinterested and rushing/scamming you out of time. Just because this didn't happen to me, doesn't mean that it won't happen to you.

🤓 Tip: While there's no scientific basis, I recommend picking not just by beauty, but by how interested the girls are. So, sorry, but if you're into shy quiet girls this may be hard. I picked the ones who smiled nicely at me, and did a "come here" hand motion. The ones who's smile actually seemed a little genuine, and not just 'Japanese customer service'. I had a grand time. The girl even said that although we are done, the time isn't up yet, so we chatted for a bit (the one I saw had a translation device).

⚠️ Be aware: Don't film, don't photograph. Don't even have your phone out. People get real nervous. Have a Japanese friend (or Google) explain to you how Tobita Shinchi works.

I first came to this place 12/2023 for two weeks and went to several restaurants. The service was amazing. Three months later now I am right here 2/2024 and I can tell that this place becomes a money grabber. Two of the girls I visited before are no longer doing jobs the way they did before. Yesterday and today visited 3 more girls. Only 1 is professional because she has great reviews. The other two are new and one of them does not know how to handle the Penni’s and it makes me hurts. I talked to the girls and I learned several things from the new way of many services too: 1. Girls now enjoy working in this place because this year they have more and more visitors. Just easy money to grab and visitors will not come back again most likely. 2. Some girls avoid customers eyesight and body touch. They repeat the same procedure and do not care how you feel. This was not my experience last year. I think girls do not care about customers anymore because they have many times more visitors than last year. 3. What I want to say is this place will become Masu Schinchi which lost trust from customers. I am sure the rate will go down this year since a lot of returning customers will agree on me. 4.
