Dining here was a wonderful experience. We were invited to dine here through our Japanese friend.
The restaurant is located right in the heart of the red light district and walking through the area was such a cool experience.
The place may seem intimidating at first due to nature of the restaurant's looks and aesthetics as well as the clientele, but we can assure you the staff are as nice as they can be (even to us foreigners!)
The restaurant primarily serves a preset sukiyaki meal. Within the set, you get an appetizer, a small starter, the main sukiyaki set, and then a fruit desert. Other additional side dishes may also be ordered through the telefone on the wall in the dining room.
Everything that was served tasted great. The sashimi was fresh, the seafood was juicy, and the meats were tender and thin, perfect for sukiyaki. The appetizer were also surprisingly good too!
We were serviced by a wonderful lady. She ensured that we had a great time and tried to get us everything we need. We are unsure whether of shes the owner of the establishment or not but we appreciate the kind service.
We must say though, that the place wasn't extremely well maintained. There were stains on the wall etc. But it is understandable considering the history this particular building went through.
The price for such an awesome dining experience like this was completely justifyable. We highly recommend you to visit here if you get the chance to. Completely unique...

You have to book online through a Japanese reservation site, but Google Translate helped with that - but keep in mind that for lots of Japanese reservations for hotels, restaurants, etc, you need to enter a Japanese phone number. I put in the number for our hotel, and then included my number in the special requests section. Fortunately it was fine, as the reservation was confirmed via email anyway.
It was our first time having sukiyaki, where you cook the food yourself at the table, and the lady who served us was super understanding and helpful, and did the initial cooking for us. Via my extremely limited Japanese and Google Translate, she told us about the history of the building, and after eating (and after the other customers had left) allowed us to have a tour of the rooms upstairs. It was incredible! Other people have made comparisons to the bath house in Spirited Away, and they are very apt - there are so many details in every piece of decoration, and it all feels so uniquely Japanese. As foreigners, it was a privilege to be able to experience this.
Bear in mind that this restaurant is in the middle of an active red light district - it didn't bother us (in fact, it's well worth having a look around as another unique experience), but it does mean that you probably wouldn't want to...
Read moreAmazing old brothel converted into a restaurant. We had the sukiyaki which was delicious. The waitress very kindly explained how to prepare this using Google translate. Be aware this restaurant is within the (still active) red light district of Osaka so area feels slightly uncomfortable late at night. Reservation and pre-order, required Japanese number to book, we used the number of our hotel which...
