March 2024 Went back to get their warabi/kudzu mochi, and a half moon shaped sakura mochi. We ate them the same day, and both are super delicious! Can't leave Tokyo without having their warabi mochi! Their sakura mochi tastes so much better than those from other wagashi shop I tried...and the soft fluffy warabi mochi texture is perfect! I won't try any other wagashi place next time, as it could be disappointing. Also bought a box of different shapes of confection to take back, which looks a feast to the eye, very beautiful, but as it doesn't have any preservative, it needs to be eaten within a week after we came back.. Next time I would buy the senbei like cookies to take back instead. The fact that this wagashi shop has lasted for 300 years means they keep their high quality and is the best!
October 2023 As a warabi mochi lover, I have tried many good warabi mochi from different shops in Koyasan, Kyoto, Tokyo and Kamakura. Nagato’s warabi mochi is by far the best and the most sophisticated one! As many reviewers said, elegant taste and delicious and well balance. It is delicate and perfect in texture, taste, covered in generous amount of kinako and it is beautifully wrapped like a present. The day before traveling back to the US, I was so happy that it was not sold out yet, and could immensely enjoy the delicate creation, but wish I could have more days to buy more! Will definitely come back next time I visit...

日本橋長門 約300年の歴史を誇る老舗中の老舗! 享保年間に創業、徳川吉宗の代から菓子商を営んで代々徳川将軍家の菓子司として菓子を製造 将軍家御用商人として松岡長門大掾藤原信吉という称号を授けられ、代々徳川家の菓子司として様々なお菓子を献上 屋号の「長門」は、松岡長門から名づけられた 創業当初は神田須田町にあった店舗は戦後に日本橋に移転し現在に至る
と、まーとんでもなく凄い和菓子屋さんだったのね (//∇//)\
店内に入ると、真っ先に目に飛び込んできたのが 水ようかん‼️
今の時期は水ようかんだよねー(^∀^)
長門の水ようかん、食べた事ないから 食べてみよ〜〜〜(^▽^)
長門の看板商品である、久寿もち、切り羊羹 も当然、お買い上げ お店を後にした(^○^)

長門の久寿もちは 本わらび粉100%使われている 見た目も食感も当然、わらび餅なのです(^-^)
昭和の初めの頃、東京では、まだ、わらび餅がほとんど普及しておらず、未知のものを客がすんなりと受け入れてくれるのか? 考えた末、目をつけたのが 東京・神奈川で馴染みのあるくず餅で‼️ その名を借りて、くず餅のように 三角形にして、きな粉をまぶし 商品化したとのこと(^o^)
きな粉がこれでもかと掛けられている 久寿もちを一切れ パクッ)^o^(
