Wow what a Gem of a hotel! |We usually stay at 5* hotels however this was not an option in Tokyo as it was impossible to find a hotel with everyone in the same room with seperate beds! Drum roll...the Karaksa Colors Hotel delivered! For a 3* hotel this accomodation punches well above its weight. We thoroughly enjoyed our 9 night stay at this hotel as there is so much to love about it:||- Our room was a comfort quadruple and having a single bed each was great! Our teenage kids said they would refuse to sleep in the same bed together so it was perfect. You can even push the two single beds together if you would like to be closer to your partner/spouse.|- Air-conditioning/Heating was so quiet! Which meant that sleeping was a breeze.|- The shower was my favourite, there were 3 settings! At first I thought I needed a PHD to master the switches however after a couple of days it was blissful!|- There is a washer/dryer in your room! Life saver as we were able to travel light.|- Refreshments and snacks are FREE each day on level 2.|- Reception staff are so friendly and helpful.|- Breakfast was way better than I expected - absolutely loved the scrambled eggs each day along with stir fries, soups and salads. Kids loved all the patisseries. Maria the chef is so sweet and a great cook! A real asset to the hotel.|- The location cannot be beaten! A quick walk to Tokyo station which boasts hundreds of shops and restaurants under the station. You can spend days under Tokyo station alone. |- 20 minute walk to all the great shops in Ginza including a HUGE Bic Camera.|- Lawson convenience store a few doors down and a Family Mart about 4 min away.|- Nihombashi station only a 5 minute walk away from the hotel. This is the station we used almost daily as it was convenient and quick to get to many locations. ||Some reviewers complained about the size of the rooms, yes Tokyo accomodation is tight anywhere you go, if you want more space you need to pay double or triple so I do not understand why people complain when they are not prepared to pay extra. Knowing that all rooms are small in Tokyo is the main reason we decided to travel with carry on sized suitcases and choose this hotel as it has a washing machine in the room so we could wash our clothes in our room. Having carry on suitcases also allowed all our suitcases to be placed on the floor in a row in the room so we could conveniently open them each day. Hence we did not have a problem with space in this hotel.||Thank you Karaksa for a wonderful stay and such...
Read moreThis was the first place I stayed at. Spent four days on the 8th floor. Very quiet. Fantastic room. Extremely clean. I met the house keeper for that floor. She was extremely polite, humble, and great at her job.
They have a small laundry facility. A different guest didn't read and follow the laundry rules. They crammed in excessive laundry and then wondered why the machine wasn't able to dry everything properly. If you read and follow the signs, you will have no issue with cleaning and drying your clothes. If someone leaves their laundry, it is posted to contact the front desk. They'll give it 10 minutes before pulling the laundry so the next person can wash and dry.
There's a lounge area. They provide breakfast if you pay for it when booking. I skipped it because it looked Western and I wanted to eat Japanese while in Japan. After breakfast it's closed for a bit and cleaned. Eventually it opens for all guests. There's more than enough to drink and snack on. They provide a few cooked items that rotate daily. Every time I got there they would be mostly eaten up, so it must be good, haha. Wines do change as well. There's always 2 white and 2 red. If you see the Japanese wine (I think it's called xyz), definitely try some! When you insert the card for it, make sure the chip faces down. 👍
I left the hotel for a few days. They held my luggage until I got back with no issue and no charge.
Second time around I was on the 9th floor. It was a little louder due to other guests, but it wasn't for long. The room was prettier. Housekeeping on this floor wasn't as diligent as the 8th floor or perhaps the person was tired. If you see in passing, they work super hard keeping everything clean. I preferred the 8th floor.
One huge perk was how they do housekeeping. They will completely replace your towels and pj's on the daily. They'll give you a couple of water bottles kept cold in the fridge. New toothbrushes every day as well. They will do full cleaning when you schedule it. Front desk will suggest having this done every couple of days and are great with handling it all. There was always an English speaker available. All of the people at the front desk were consistently polite and considerate; same with every single employee I saw and met in passing. Out of all the places I stayed, these employees were top tier....
Read moreWe stays in Tokyo for 6 nights and we booked Karaksa Hotel colors Tokyo for 2 nights.
This was THE WORST staycation experience we had in Tokyo.
Firstly we booked the room for 3 pax and we specifically requested for a certain room type. Upon arrival, we were not told that we were given a room with 2 horozontally layed beds and 1 vertically layed sofa bed at the corner of the room.
We went out right after we put down our luggage and was not told been given the room type wasn’t like what we requested. And when we came back to the hotel at 8pm. We realised the room was not given correctly. We were told there was not vancancy at all.
And the front desk staff has not been helpful at all. She was showing a negative attitude telling us the hotel is fully booked and there is nothing she can do. After checking with another colleague, she told us she can give us another room with 3 alined beds but we have to pack everything and came to the front desk the morning.
She even interrupted us when we were explaining the whole thing. She kept on saying unfortunately hotel is fully booked and there is nothing she can do.
The room is tiny for the value.
No public bathing room. No bath tub in the hotel room. Sound proofing is terrible.
We are very disappointed about how they handle the situation. The staff simply shrugged her shoulders and say the hotel is fully booked. There is nothing she can do. But after she check with her colleague, suddenly the available room jumped out.
We booked base on the good reviews but we are having doubts about the...
