Located in the heart of Shinjuku, うどん 萬田次郎 (Manda Jiro) is one of the best spots to enjoy amazing chewy udon. It’s a traditional udon restaurant where they cut and prepare the udon right in front of you in the kitchen. The texture is excellent, and the taste is incredibly fresh, following the Buzen Urauchi style, which features a semi-transparent appearance due to a unique proprietary maturation method.
Depending on the season, you can also try special udon plates, such as the one with the huge clam you can get only a lunch. Alternatively, you can enjoy the classic udon served with tempura.

Read more『うどん萬田次郎』へ2度目の訪問。 前回友人と訪れた時は、WEB予約してから入るまで時間かかりましたが、今日は並ぶ事なくすんなり入れました。 前回は、萬田うどんを注文しましたが、今回は肉ごぼう天うどんの温を注文し奥様は肉つけを注文。 待っている間に、インバウンドが2人連れと4人連れと入り、すぐにWEB予約しないと入れなくなりました…ラッキー。 しばらく待つと、来ました来ましたうどんが来ました。 写真見てもらうとわかりますが、うどんが透き通る様なうどんなんです。 ごぼう天は…板のようですが…ごぼう天なんです。 うどん綺麗だな〜と思いながらいただきます。 まずはおつゆをいただきます。 口に入れると、すぐに感じるのが濃厚な出汁の風味…つゆの色からは、およそ考えつかない深さ…美味い😋 そしてうどん、口に入れるとすぐに感じるのは、ツルツルシコシコだぁ〜。 嬉しくなって、勢いよくうどんを啜って最後に汁はねで服につゆが付くという惨事が😱 そして、ごぼう天をつゆに付けずにいただく…パリパリでボロボロと割れていくけど、ごぼうの風味強くて美味い😋 そして、つゆに付けてふやかしていただく、コクのある出汁を吸ってふやけた衣とごぼうの風味がまた良い。 そして肉、玉ねぎと一緒によく煮てあると感じる程、出汁が染み込んでいて美味い😋 そして奥様と交換して、肉つけをいただく。 うどんは変わらない食感で美味い😋 けれどもつゆが全く違ってて、とても濃厚で濃い味わい。 これはこれで美味い😋 お店の人に、食べ終わったら割り湯入れて、スープとして飲めますよと言われたので、ラーメン屋のつけ麺と同じシステムを感じた。 2回目も、奥様共々とても美味しくいただきました。 映えもありますが、味の実力も抜群です。
This is my second visit to Udon Manada Jiro. "When I visited with my friend last time, it took me a while to enter after I made a reservation on the web, but today I went in without waiting in line." "Last time, I ordered Manada Udon, but this time I ordered meat burdock tempura udon, and my wife ordered meatsuke." Udon noodles are lighter than what you would expect, and conversely the hot soup option is thicker than what you would expect. Together, the meal is a new experience for me, given I'd only eaten normal udon noodles before.
