Date of Visit: May 3rd 2023, first day of Golden Week.
Actually I was here many years ago when the anime came out and had fond memory of it. And I went to the Ginza location and had a very positive experience and since I live rather close by to this branch now I decided to re-visit.
First the drink, the Lemon Sour from the Ginza location was delicious, so I was gonna reorder it here. Big mistake, it came in a champagne glass (it was a full whisky glass from Ginza location), tastes terribly imbalanced, too much syrup.
The steak was 5 piece in Ginza and three small piece here.
Pasta was undercooked and the emulsion of the Shrimp pasta was underdone, lukewarm and couldn’t even melt the mascarpone properly when served (it was good in Ginza). The bolognese was also undercooked (Al Dente and it literally tasted like biting into a tooth).
Bread was chewy, wrong flour?
Multiple times the wait staff have put down dishes we did not order, and had to ask if we had ordered them. And plop down the check and then asked us to pay before the dessert had even arrived. Absolutely horrendous service.
“Apple pie” turns out to be a non-crunchy Apple fritter. Cheesecake is about 50% size of the Ginza one.
Also, all lunch options are about 500 JPY more than the Ginza location. Seems disingenuous simply because of the anime they feel it’s okay to charge more for less. As Bubble once said “Sometimes, things that are expensive, are worse.”
Conclusion: go to the Ginza branch unless you really want to see the interior of the anime (which you can check out by just entering...
Read moreVisited the place only because of Your Name. Took photos and ordered snacks. The aesthetics are pretty good. When we came in though, they were pretty occupied and the space between the tables was definitely a bit tight. Don’t know about the second floor though. The Slava Ukraine was good only because of the 200-yen donation to Ukraine. Well, it tasted pretty good actually, but I had that expectation vs reality moment because the flame was lookin’ high and nice on the photo. Chicken wings were very plain it’s not even worth to take a photo, and the taste was plain, too. Anchovy fries were pretty good. Don’t mind it if it’s a bit on the pricey side as long as you feel your money’s worth. Well this is not it for me. Also, after some time, there were many vacant tables already and while I’m not sure if there’s a time limit on your dining stay or it’s a cultural thing here in Japan, it comes down to feeling like we were chased out of the cafe because we were already done eating. Should we have eaten slower? Ordered more so we can stay longer? In any case, it didn’t feel nice. All in all my experience was tantamount to saying this place is a little overrated. It just got hyped because of the movie but other than the nice aesthetics, given the dining experience which is what a dining place should be about, I would give this a...
Read moreI chose to celebrate my birthday at this restaurant with my husband after learning it inspired the restaurant from the movie Kimi No Na Wa. The inside decor is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, this was probably the best part of the evening. The music was very very loud, to the point I couldn’t enjoy conversation with my partner without feeling like I was having to shout. We had to wait almost 30 minutes between each course, with no explanation as to why. Our drinks ran out early and it was impossible to get anyones attention to order more; even when we tried to order tea to be delivered with dessert, it was never brought out. There was no acknowledgement that it was my birthday. As we finished up and were getting ready to leave, my husband asked me what had happened to my chair. I had been wondering why it felt so weird to sit on, but hadn’t bothered to check. It turns out that I had been sitting in a broken chair for over 2.5 hours. I really wanted to enjoy the evening but I left feeling let down.
If you’re a fan of the movie, and travel from overseas to see this restaurant please enjoy it from...
