I visited Tokyo a few months ago with my boyfriend, and I took him and his Japanese aunt here for the first time. It was pouring rain as we walked here, so when we came in we were all soaking wet. The staff was so nice and immediately offered us napkins to dry off. The big windows were so nice to watch the rain and you have a view of the trees and park across the way, and there was jazz playing. It felt like we were in a movie. We ordered a bunch of desserts since everything looked so good and we loved every single thing. My boyfriend and his aunt are not vegan at all but they both said it was the best matcha they've had and some of the best desserts too (including non vegan ones). I loved how you could really taste the lemon in the lemon roll. And the strawberry cake wasn't too sweet and was very light and fluffy, as well as the cream. Not dense at all. Every thing he would try became his new favorite. They had a long conversation with the staff and they were so nice and friendly, especially Mina! We went again the day before we flew back home and she hugged me goodbye and they waved till we were out of sight. Truly miss this place and can't...
Read moreThis pastry shop was recommended to me by my friend L who ordered a Christmas cake here and told me that she and her friends were very satisfied with it. A couple of months later, after a picnic in Shinjuku Gyoen, I decided to finally check it out with my lactose intolerant bestie. Me, as a gluten sensitive person, I ended up ordering the only not-gluten-free option (🫥), but I was actually really craving an apple tart (and additionally not a lot of options were available at that point), tart was good... but definitely too cold, they could have warmed it up a little bit.
My friend, on the other hand, ordered a Lemon Rolled Cake, whose dough tasted good, but the lemon cream was definitely too sour.
Additionally the staff seemed kind of confused, or maybe not properly organised, as it looked like they were almost prioritising people who order take out over people who were sitting at one table, waiting to order (us).
Overall, it's not bad, especially considering how unpopular is vegan and gluten-free food in this country. But on the other hand, there are definitely some...
Read moreTiny shop opposite Shinjuku Gyoen Park. Staff are kind, polite and attentive, but service may take a little time. Everything, including the staff, is spick and span. I took out a tiramisu and an egg sandwich, and both were immaculately packed up for me. Single-use utensils are available at additional cost. I had the food in the park, and both were delicious. I could properly taste the coffee and the cocoa in the tiramisu. And the sandwich, which was very prettily and expertly packaged was generously packed with lettuce, tomato and cucumber, and "egg". I would have preferred if the "egg" was "eggier" and saltier, but otherwise, it was a tasty sandwich. I returned on another visit, and took out the sandwich again, and this time, I tried the cheesecake, which checked all my boxes for a cheesecake, it...
