We tried several dishes and shared at the table. Reading the menu we thought so many plates sounded good, that we asked for recommendations. We knew we wanted to try some dumplings and landed on the variety they called "traditional". We also had some potato pancakes with the mushroom sauce. They were what we in Denmark are used to referring to as "rösti", which is a favorite of mine. They were really well made and I very much enjoyed them. We had stroganoff as the main course and that way had room for ordering two different desserts. Honey cake and golden blinis. Everything was very made! Skilled chefs and a nice presentation. The photos, well, the dishes looked so good we had eaten from before I remembered to take a photo. With three chances, I remembered in time when the desserts arrived 😉 We tried some local drinks as well, among those a plum based unthinned vodka. It was very aromatic and flavorful. We had a really...

Uncle Vanya is like walking into a warm embrace — equal parts rustic charm and Slavic soul. Tucked away in a quiet corner of Riga, it feels like you’ve stumbled into a time-worn dacha where every dish tells a story and every corner hums with nostalgia.

The food is rich, hearty, and unapologetically comforting. The pelmeni are soft little pockets of joy, and the beef stroganoff melts like butter. Pair it with one of their house-infused vodkas (the horseradish one packs a cheeky punch), and you’re in for an evening that lingers well past the final bite.

The staff are attentive without being overbearing — warm, funny, and happy to guide you through the menu like an old friend. From the antique decor to the deep flavors, this place is a whole mood. A hidden gem that feels like a love letter to old-world hospitality. Will...

The only good thing was the athmosphere. Foods were just normal. There were only 3 kind of vodka left and it was the reason for us to go there actually. How come you have 3 kind vodkas left in russian restauant, interesting… the ugliest thing was at the end. Our bill was 47€ and I gave 50€ paper + 2€ coin so thought that he will give me 5€ paper. In return i got many coins in total amount 4€ but many many 20-10-50 cents. It was 1€ missing and also tons of coins instead of one paper. It was a miscalculation and also a bad attitude. I go and told the situation to waiter he didnt understand in the first and i had to tell him more slower for twice. And then he got angry and gave me 1€ that he should have given earlier with aggresively mumbering in front of other tables. It was a...

Great atmosphere and lots of high end dishes to choose from! Venison tartar is a nice spin and not your typical overdone traditional dishes. If you want to try pre Revolution Russian cuisine this is the place!
