Arrival: Upon arrival, I was greeted by Joanne in a very friendly manner with a fresh cup of delicious coffee. She made me feel at home right away and there was absolutely no formality which I loved! She offered to take me to a Maiyan cleanse for free while I waited for my room. On the way back she drove myself and another lady (also staying in the lofts) to the grocery store in case we wanted to pick anything up. These were generous gestures which made me feel comfortable right away.
Accommodations: The room was beautiful and stocked up with fresh fruit and water (I even had some left over after my 5 day stay). The room was also cleaned regularly. Joanne also provides a bike for your stay which quickly becomes your best friend. They also have some of the best scuba and free diving instructors which I wish I had tried if I was staying longer.
Yoga: I tried to attend at least 1 yoga class a day and found there is much variety and something for everyone. There were people attending with various yoga backgrounds. (You can attend even if youâre a beginner). I liked the incorporation of essential oils and more breathing techniques than Iâm used to.
The staff: Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I found Leif provided me with the most information and was very cheerful even when I asked him to repeat some suggestions. They had a new member named Malin who is helping out for a little while. She was willing to travel along with me to some bars and cenote when she wasnât working. If youâre lucky she will be there when you visit!
Location: The retreat is in a convenient location. It doesnât take too long to bike to the beach or even some cenote. I biked to 2 nearby cenote during my visit which were beautiful. There are also some delicious restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Tulum: Tulum itself is gorgeous, safe and Iâd definitely revisit. This loft fits the Tulum vibe of positivity and slow living perfectly!
Thank you all for making my first solo vacation...
Read more"A wonderful and unique Yoga and SCUBA retreat" Tribal Tulum gets 5 stars from me. Joanne was extremely responsive from my first inquiry and built a custom program allowing me to maximise my yoga and diving. The accommodation is spacious, clean, well appointed and very comfortable. The kitchenette is great and allows you to eat in if you want - although there are an ample supply of great restaurants for every budget within a short walk of Tribal. Breakfast was freshly prepared each day and was varied and delicious. Joanne is a marvelous host and nothing is too much trouble. I joined her most mornings for her sunrise beach mediation (not to be missed if you love stunning sunrises above a beautiful blue ocean) She also was great at recommending different things to do in and around Tulum. If you get a chance do a Mayan Temple Tour and a Temazcal. The yoga studio is a very calming space and the Teachers she has assembled (along with herself) are passionate professionals who will work with you to get the most from your practice whatever that might be âŠ. And on New Years Eve we had just the best Chakra focussed Sound Bath. The Diving is outstanding. Alex and Orlando were great Instructors and took me to an amazing array of Cenotes from majestic cathedrals of stalagmites and stalactites, to The Pit a 115 foot multilevel dive featuring great halocline and hydrogen sulfide layers and just about everything in between. I did 10 dives everyone different, including two ocean dives with some amazing swim throughs. There was nothing about Tribal Tulum that I did not like. It was a perfect balance of yoga, meditation, diving, and culture. I highly recommend Tribal Tulum. I had read it was noisy but I did not find it noisy at all - yes it is by the main road to the beach and that does get some traffic but it was never excessively noisy and the convenience of the location far outweighed the fact it was by the road. You even get a bike for your stay to enable you...
