WORST (AND MOST EXPENSIVE) HAIRCUT IN 6 MONTHS BACKPACKING CENTRAL AMERICA
The barber clearly had no idea how to cut hair. I asked for a fade and he just gave me a grade O and did not fade it at all. There are patches left on the back of my head in parts that were not cut properly. Also it’s not cut evenly around the back of my head. On the top of my hair, the barber had no idea how to cut it. He fluffed my hair up with a comb and randomly cut into it. I had to ask him to spray some water into my hair so that he could see what he was cutting. It’s cut totally uneven at the front as he did not wet it comb it and cut it. He just hacked into it randomly. The sides and back on my hair were given no consideration and just hang over the sides like a mushroom. The whole haircut took about 15 minutes only. I had paid for a 35 minute cut. I contacted them to give this feedback and request a refund but they just completely ignored my messages. I now need to find a barber to clean up the mess I’m left with. The barbers was totally empty when I was there and I saw the booking systems they had no bookings. The place is a scam, they’ve brought fake reviews so they can tourist trap people into the "looks" of a premium barbers. Save your money and find a $5 dollar local guy who’s honest and a better barber. The pictures speak for themselves...
Read moreWhile staying in Tulum for a month I dropped by this place 2x. Each experience was absolutely perfect. Both times I got a haircut, beard trip and shave. The barber who helped me was Manolo, a super nice guy and skilled barber from argentina. The first time we spoke only in Spanish but Manolo is also very proficient in English which dad very helpful the second time when I was exhausted and my bilingual brain just didn’t want to function. Manolo was super accommodating in every way. And the level of service was excellent. They offer beverages , they do a straight razor shave with hot towel and tea bags on your eyes and they use an incredible massager that almost put me to sleep. The second time. I had lost my wallet but I got in touch with the owner via Google maps and he let me come in and pay with Apple Pay (even though he wasn’t sure it would work.. because it was new to their shop) he said thag if it didn’t go through my cut could be on the house or if I wanted we could arrange to pay later online when I received my new card. This was a 11/10 experience and I recommend it to anyone. Also, Manolo is super handsome so if that’s a factor when picking your barbers, you’ll...
Read moreI stopped in for a last minute shave/cleanup when my fiancé booked an engagement shoot for us while vacationing. I was hesitant as I’ve had the same barber back home in my town for over ten years. First impression- the shop is very nice, clean, and cozy. Both barbers were busy but I was able to sit with Manuel once he finished his customer. His service was top tier! He made me feel pretty comfortable, and quickly. The shave was close, and clean. He also touched up my beard and did it exactly to my liking when I described my preference. If you need a place to go while visiting Tulum or a nearby city, this is the place to go. Manuel did not disappoint, and he even threw in some spa like services. We’re talking, face mask, and scalp massage. I kid you not,...
