I'm honestly surprised at the amount of stellar reviews of this place and even a claim that this restaurant serves "gourmet" food.
The complimentary chips and salsa came with no salsa. The pique was literally hot oil with no sign of peppers (I shook the bottle). The other condiments were mayonnaise and chopped raw chili pepper.
I've never ever heard of or had ceviche with fried onions. I gave it a try anyway. The fish was okay but the greasy fried onions dominated a medium portion that looked like it was prepared for a table of 6.
The rest of the food was soggy veggie quesadilla, soggy, stale nachos, and semi-decent shrimp tacos.
As we were being seated, we were told that its cash only. Okay. At the end of the "meal" we received a bill for 950 MXN pesos. Converted to USD it was $53 and change. I left $55 and we walked away only to be summoned back with the demand that we pay more for the conversion of USD to MXN.
Disgusting would be a more appropriate way to describe the food and the experience. I've had better tacos from a hole in a wall establishments and taco trucks.
My only solace was warning another couple who was about to dine in there to stay away.
Update 7/18/24: I used Google translate to view the owner's reply. While I appreciate the apology from the owner, the server could use a bit of training in hospitality:
We went out of our way to get more cash because we were told "cash only," even though the only visible sign in the restaurant stated that all major credit cards were accepted including cash and then got yelled at. The food was subpar, but the service...
Read moreA friend told us that the place was fantastic. We walked up there and was greeted and sat quickly. Ordered two beers, got the wrong ones no biggie. Second round, order was corrected. Started with the oysters, very small, a few tasted good and a couple of them were warm and bad tasting. I put them in a Napkin, nobody followed up to see if we were good. Awile past and we were asked if we'd like anything else. I ordered the coconut shrimp. About 20 mins later and empty beers I had to get up to bother the staff eating birthday cake and chatting behind the bar for the check. It was slow, you can see the cooks weren't cooking anything...the servers didn't seem to care here about our table, to busy celebrating a staff members birthday. The shrimp was never ordered. I was told as I was paying that the tip wasn't included. Maybe do your job, and you'll get tips. I never got my shrimp, specially went there for the octopus but never made it to that point. 3 weeks here, worse experience so far. Reviews are great, maybe I just came at the...
Read moreWhere do I start? The first night we were here, they sold us a fishing trip that went WAY SOUTH! VERY POOR COMMUNICATION! We overplayed for everything, especially the fishing trip! Don't buy it! They showed up late, about an hour, and then said they would make up for it after they cut the trip short! I feel bad for the guys who work here because management has screwed them. We paid more than full price including drinks and were screwed! Management and the captain of the boat didn't have very good communication at all! They said they would take the fish from the boat and bring it to the restaurant to prepare it....yet they wanted us to bring it and after a long talk, they brought it. Santos was a GREAT waiter and tried but to no avail. $450 later, I feel extremely short changed! The food was just ok but it may be biased based on an overall...
