Update: 2025 review (previous was 4.8 star but am updating for the following reasons) The service here went downhill… they act like you are a hassle for coming here. We’ve been here at least 5 times this season and they make us feel so uncomfortable with the service. The hosts at the front judge you up and down before seating you. Even when ordering in Spanish they have a weird vibe and when they are out of an ingredient they want to charge extra when you want to modify the meal that they don’t have in stock that night. Overall we’ve eaten here at least 10 times (we recognize the same servers in the last two years) and they pretend they don’t recognize us. No loyalty here and we won’t be back.. They make sure to tell you that tip is not included in the bill in a high pitched voice. And once you tip when paying and say gracias, buenas noches, the server turns around and doesn’t say thank you. Also tons of stray dogs with open wounds begging tables for food and the servers get mad when you try and give them a scrap of food. I’ve never seen such hate towards animals. Very sad

Yes, totally yes. We went because I drove by and saw quite a few people eating there. Was not disappointed in the good quality and taste of the food, the nice atmosphere and the good service from the staff. We had an appetizer, entrees, dessert, wine and drinks for two people for a super reasonable price. Fresh pasta, really delicious well made food. Will be a regular there now. Didn't know they had several restaurants. I wish them good success. A businesses we have no problem supporting. Good job guys.

Beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. The piña colada was one of the best drink I've had. I had a ravioli and shrimp dish, which taste great except it had too much salt, not necessary. The pepperoni pizza was amazing and well done. Lastly had creme brulee for dessert, the presentation looked great but the texture wasn't right and was disappointed with that overall taste. Would come again and try their breakfast.

I have been wanting to try this place for many years. I have heard the one in PDC is excellent. I had plans for elsewhere this evening, but the heavy rain knocked the power out for the city, and Sofia has a generator / was open. After sitting, they had to move a lot of the outdoor tables inside due to the heavy rain. The servers were busy, and I gave them a lot of grace. After 25 minutes of not getting any service, I watched tables that arrived after us getting service. I went up to the cashier and another guy (found out later he was the manager). The cashier took our order and she was very friendly and helpful. There was a bald guy wearing a chef outfit walking around the restaurant non stop, moving tables, for those that needed help. It appeared he was a manager, as he was in the house more than the kitchen. When I complained to him about not getting service, he said that he's the chef and the manager is right there....the one behind the counter doing nothing. Our table was right in front of him.

The service was very very disappointing. It looks like someone invested a lot of money into a beautiful building, but hired an idiot to manage the place. Very disappointed in their service and will never return. It's one thing to have a bad waitor, but when the manager is inattentive, there is no point in coming back.

Even after addressing not getting service, we still never had a server our entire visit. Had to go to the counter to ask...

The BEST Italiano restaurant +++ so much more! literally everything my foodie heart desires At a price that turns on my pocket !!

Best restaurant in Tulum in my 61 years of experience opinion! Everything is cooked to perfection at a very high level of taste for a price that rivals anywhere I've been in this town. As soon as I found this place I just keep coming back to eat dinner. The menu is vast and expansive with all gourmet touches. Ample, European, delicious, the portions are generous The price is astonishing the reasonable for everything. You just have to make this a favorite, and nobody is paying me, nor have I received any benefit for saying this.! . The wine and cocktails are ample and selection of wines suited me to a T! , often not the case in this town which has a tendency to pre-measure everything, the settingis outdoor and breezy in little tropical forest with ponds… Within walking distance from my fabulous little Hilton hotel, the MOTTO, which I also highly recommend

They provide insect repellent if you want it sitting outside, the staff are gracious and amazing. The music is superb unless it's soccer in which case they don't play music! 😂Typical!

Highly recommended and I am traveling alone and feel warmly welcomed here. Thank you, Casa Sophia, next time maybe I will stay in the hotel here as well.

Oh and a superb view xchange...

We visited this restaurant 3 times in a row so i guess it’s needless to say the two first times were great. Service was a bit slow but it was okay for us, the location is great, atmosphere good and food good as well. Untill the third (and last) visit, i ordered a pizza with buratta on it but the buratta was bad (expired) it gave a tingly sensation on the tongue which indicates it’s expired and it had a slight sour taste. When mentioned to the first waiter the reaction was very low and he said he will check with the kitchen, he never came back. When we paid the bill and refused to give a tip we said again that the buratta was expired and that that’s why we don’t give a tip, her reaction was: ah okay. At this point i got very annoyed that i mention twice to the staff that the product they serve is expired and that twice the reaction is basically nothing. I asked for a manager at this point and told him it’s not okay that i get served expired food, mention it twice and don’t get a reaction. I also told him that it’s not about me getting money back or anything (we already paid the bill) but that i wanted to let him know that it’s unacceptable how this was handled. He went away to talk to staff and we left the restaurant so i don’t know how this was handled after but for me this was a very...
