Located across the street from Casa Del Mar, the Shack is next to a cigar store and offers plenty of space to suit up. Well staffed...there were always folks there to help us. Plenty of hangers for your equipment...both inside and outside the building...it was easy to dry wetsuits before packing to go home. They offer lockers to leave you equipment for the week, and this section of Cozumel is super safe. There are folks there well before 8am, and they close at 7:30pm. Shore diving there is easy, and gets you out on a massive plain with lots to see. Their boats carry 4 to 6 divers, and are hard-hulled boats powered by a single outboard motor...no stinky diesel fumes. The boats have an aluminum superstructure with a canvas top and you can stash your shirt up there when diving. Their boats are also fast...we passed a lot of slower boats on the way out to the further reefs. We put on our wetsuits...at least to the waist...prior to departing the 'dock'. The tanks on some boats are all stored on the aft end, so you'll need to let the divemaster setup your rig...you don't want to be lurching around while the boat is moving. They will bring each of you your rig, and you can put it on while sitting and get it ready. You'lll want to put your flppers on BEFORE you put on the BCD. When everyone is all set, the divemaster went in first to check on conditions. With the "OK" we did back roll entries...the Captain would tell each one of us when to go. With the current, be mindful of where everyone is. Most dives were drift dives...even with no current there just aren't mooring sites. There is a rope along the boat...they don't trail a rope behind...so you can hold on, and hand your fins to the Captain...very easy. Likewise we handed our cameras up the same way. Some divers removed their BCDs in the water and the Captain pulled them up, others exited the water on the ladder themselves. Remember...these are small boats so you may be asked to sit OPPOSITE from the ladder to keep the boat level. Snacks for the surface interval were Baked goods! Likewise, they have bottles of water with your NAME on them. First dive was far away, 2nd dive much closer to the shop. But with 4 divers, you can decide where you want to go. Zc SHORE DIVING: No problem at all, unless there is boat in your way. My buddy entered the water just before the boat came in. The Captain saw this, and tied off the boat then nodded to me to proceed. Easy as pie. You can night dive after dark...all very nice. Oh...they dont use rubber valve covers on the tanks so make sure you know where the empties are from the full. I did tank up once only to discover I had a low fill...2000psi...so had to redo everything. From there on, I used their pressure gauge near the counter before walking my tank down to my gear. All in all...Its the 'right size' operation...enough staff, etc but without getting 'lost in the crowd'. Likewise, with such small groups, you can pretty much decide how you want to dive each day. This is on my list of places I...

Once again amazing amazing trip. Everyone who works here is absolutely wonderful. Special shout outs to a fantastic dive master who made every aspect of the trip memorable Gilberto. Captain Marino who made us amazing guacamole . Also Efrain who makes your day extra amazing when you see him. Excellent to see Elpo, Miguel and the rest of the staff.
This was my second time diving with Roberta's and my first time staying at their village accommodations.
Roberta’s Dive Center consistently impresses. The staff are some of the most caring, accommodating, and genuine people who truly go out of their way to ensure your vacation is extraordinary.
From our initial interactions with Miguel—who helped us plan the perfect trip while avoiding overpriced taxis—to Eduardo, who ensured every detail of our diving was flawless, we were in excellent hands throughout.
The dive masters and boat captains were exceptional. Juan and Nagi made sure we saw an incredible variety of marine life, from the smallest to the largest creatures, all while keeping safety a priority. We felt completely safe with Captain Joel, who monitored our bubbles carefully. Every time we surfaced, he was right there, assisting us by carrying our gear from the water onto the boat, making reboarding effortless. The team handles everything, from setting up gear to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.
If you have the chance, don’t miss the twilight dive! It was absolutely magical, with so much vibrant marine life on display after dark. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
We absolutely loved staying at the Village Tan Kah. It’s a simple yet serene retreat, surrounded by nature. Kery was an amazing host at the hotel, giving us great food recommendations and ensuring everything was perfect A family of javelina pigs visited us in the mornings, and hummingbirds and finches fed right outside our bedroom door. The hammocks, the beautiful pool—it all made the village feel more like an oasis than a typical hotel. There was even a cat Milky that roamed the property that always wanted to greet me when I returned. It’s a place where you’re treated like family.
Thank you, Roberta’s, for the unforgettable memories. We can’t wait...
Read moreHad an amazing trip at Roberta’s, 18 dives in 6 days. Weather closed the docks early one night, so a twilight + night dive pivoted to an afternoon single tank dive. We cycled through a bunch of different boats and dive masters who were all excellent. Gil and Elpi were especially good divemasters. Fresh made bread/cake was a nice treat. Some of the boats were a little tight, but fine for 6 divers. Orca was the best boat, wider and had tank holders for each seat so you could sit next to your gear. On our first arrival we were booked for a twilight and night dive but they canceled on us due to other divers not showing up, so we only had 2. Instead we dove the house reef from the dock which was free, and had lots of interesting things to see. They also mentioned that if we paid for an additional 2 divers we could go out with 2. However the logistics of our arrival time didn’t have enough lead time to coordinate that. After that we never had another problem and every dive was very special. Some of the best night dives I have ever been on. Got to see everything on the bucket list. Tons of octopus and squids, the endemic splendid toadfish, eagle rays breaching the surface. Lots of turtles and stingrays. Amazing swim throughs at multiple sites by Palancar. Paradise reef was by far the best spot for night dives, low current and lots of sightings and not many bugs both times we did it. We had strong current and lots of worms/bugs on another night dive at Delilah which was not as enjoyable. Another great feature of this dive shop was they packed coats for everyone from a local swim team that helped keep us warm after a dive. Something I didn’t plan for which was a really nice touch. Will be...
