My wife and I just finished a Grand European River Cruise at Amsterdam. Viking's bus to the airport dropped our group of 70+ year old seniors off about three quarters of a mile from the departure terminal. Dragging our suitcases behind us, my partially disabled wife caught her foot on a curb while crossing one of streets and fell heavily. On blood thinners, her blood soaked through her shirt at the elbow and her knee became very swollen. Our Viking guide took one of her suitcases and another passenger took the other and she trudged on the rest of the way in pain. As we passed into the Schiphol departure area, we saw numerous other passenger busses dropping off their passengers right there. Viking doesn't do this. We just returned from our very first Viking River Cruise on the Rhine, traveling from Basel to Amsterdam, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. Just finished my very 1st Viking river cruise from Basel to Amsterdam (Njord 10/3-10/10) and it was NOT PLEASANT. The boat was not as glamorous as the commercials and ads show. Our room 115 had very strong swear and solid waste smell for three days and informed this unpleasant situation to the staff but there was no sense of urgency to remedy. I vomited twice and spent two nights without much sleep with nausea and headache.

Room was otherwise clean and well stocked, food was mostly good but nothing exciting. Shore excursions were good but not much onboard activities while docked for extended hours.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall booking experience was great but the real ON BOARD EXPERIENCE LACKED...
