I worked here for a week in 2018, and Jarrod bullied me. My name is Mohammad Idham, and I told him to call me Idham or, if it was easier for him, “Am.” But he chose to call me “Mo” because of Mohammad, since he had a previous employee named Mo too. After just one day, he yelled at me many times because he said I was slow, even though I was faster than the other employees.
The job advert said I was supposed to just do ice cream scooping, but on the second day I had to serve the ice cream, be a cashier, cleaner, etc. I know I was a bit slow at the cashier because this was only my third day on the job, and my fifth day in New Zealand as I’m from Malaysia for my working holiday visa. He mocked me, told everyone else including his daughter and other staff, and said, “You’re not Mo; you’re Slo Mo.” I found this disrespectful and humiliating.
He’s a Chinese New Zealander, and he’s kind with other Kiwis and Māori, but he treated me badly and disrespectfully. There was one other guy, from either Pakistan or India, who had the same treatment too, and he quit after a few weeks. He’s a horrible person. There were many things that he did that I can’t really remember now.
Also, he wouldn’t allow me to talk at all while working, even when it didn’t affect anything. He didn’t care about breaks either: I worked from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm without a break or even a drink, on my feet the entire time.
If you are from a non-white country on a working holiday visa here or want to work here, don’t. He wants to be the only male person of colour, and no one else.
Oh one more thing, pretty sure this guy also stole my wage. I can only write the time of when i start working, break time, end, by 15 minutes. So if you arrived at 1016, you cannot put 1016, you have to put 1030. Same as the end, if you finish at 626pm, you gotta write 615pm. Thats how he stole my wage.
Plus, everything is by cash. Customers paying for items, he pays staffs’ wages, etc. Pay taxes like...
Read moreGreat place for real Strawberry ice cream, it is yummy especially with the waffle cone. The Strawberry farm is very popular so expect some lines but the staff are fast and efficient so the wait time is not very long. They use to sell pancakes and Strawberry ice cream but not anymore because they are too busy. They sell organic vegetables and fruit at a very good price $2 for a big organic lettuce (vegetables/fruit vary due to seasons). There's plenty of outdoor seats to eat your ice cream and people watch lol! The Strawberry farm do not have Eftpos, you must bring CASH to buy...
Read moreMy first time coming here and the girl at the cashier was rushing me so bad she just took a bag of strawberries like when I haven’t told her that I wanted it, and I asked her questions about it because I didn’t know anything about this place and the food and she rolled her eyes at me and I felt very bad treated. I’m not coming back and I’m not recommending this place to anyone. I’m disappointed because I heard so good about farm places here in New Zealand and I wanted to try this as I’m new here in New Zealand, but I’m not coming back...
