If I were to rate out of ten :

Items ordered :
Chicken Biriyani - WORST. If it wasn’t for the rice, there was nothing that could convince me it was biriyani. I do not except it to be spicy, but why does it taste like rice mixed with tomato ketchup (honestly). For those who eat biriyani know, no matter how bad the chef is, it’s a dish we can somehow manage to each a portion. But I just could not eat it, although I knew I was completely wasting my money by throwing it away.
Palak Paneer - NO GOOD. far better than my first order. By palak (leaf) tasted like crushed grass than palak, and makes me question if it was rather grass / tree leaves. Paneer did not taste like my usual paneer. But tried to consume this as I just could not eat the biriyani. And I GOT SICK FOR DAYS.
Garlic and cheese Naan - NO GOOD I have had these naans at other places, and this is nothing like it. Here they stuff too much garlic and some cheese inside naan (too much garlic makes it all too much) and I struggled to eat. Again, no where close to being as bad as my biriyani, but just edible because I had paid money, wouldn’t dare to order more.
Coke - the only good thing that was served. Perhaps because they didn’t prepare this item.
The restaurant is run by Fijian Indians, and I am unsure as to whether it maybe a traditional Fijian Indian Style of preparation but definitely not any where close to being authentic Indian. I should have trusted the reviews. But decided to go as after all, no matter how under prepared Indian food are, they have a common masala / spice, but I was wrong in this place.
We had food poisoning which lasted several days. PLEASE AVOID, PARTICULARLY IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING.
I wouldn’t be bothered to write in detailed about a place, particularly where the staff were alright, but the food is beyond shocking, you can not possibly go this wrong. IT IS BEYOND ME HOW THIS PLACE IS STILL IN BUSINESS. The restaurant may want to consider the 2 minute curries instead of cooking and...

Went here on a lunch date and wow – what a stunning little spot! As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted by a beautiful and cozy atmosphere that set the mood just right. Indian Express is a true hidden gem tucked away in Māngere – and the food? Absolutely delicious!
We ordered a feast, and every single bite was packed with flavour. The Chicken Korma with rice was rich and creamy, the Prawn Masala had the perfect spice kick, and the braised chicken with cashew nuts was a standout – so tender and full of flavour. We also had garlic naan bread (so soft and garlicky!), beef spring rolls, crispy fries with tomato sauce, and another side dish that we didn’t catch the name of – but loved every bite of it!
To wash it all down: two Heinekens, a refreshing mango lassi, and ginger beer – the perfect combo to balance out the spice and richness of the food.
Everything was served hot and fresh, and the portions were generous. Honestly, every dish we tried was a winner. The flavours, the presentation, and the atmosphere made this one unforgettable lunch.
Highly recommend this spot if you’re in South Auckland and craving authentic Indian flavours. We’ll...
Read moreCan’t say enough good things about Indian Express! I felt welcome from the moment I stepped foot on the pavement outside.
Food: decadent, succulent, tasty, made with the utmost love and care. In our group of 4 people we had sweet and sour pork (x2), chicken curry (a perfect balance of tomato and spice), and bbq pork with pineapple. We also shared a basket of garlic naan. For dessert we had one of each - the sundae, and the other option that had a type of donut in it. Everything is fresh, and exploding with flavour. I have never found a sweet and sour pork that had such a beautiful crispy batter on the outside and tender meat within. The great thing is that if Chinese food is more your style than Indian, my good friend has a full menu for that.
Service: staff are attentive and nothing is too much trouble. They were even willing to translate Hindi to English (like with vindaloo). I spent my time laughing and chatting with the owner and I actually didn’t want to go home. IE have their regulars, but regular or first time visitor, you’re treated...
