We recently celebrated an 80th birthday at Dickens Inn, right during the transition from the old owners to the new owners, and we couldn’t have asked for a smoother experience. Both the previous owners and the new owners went above and beyond to make sure our night went perfectly. They were incredibly accommodating and friendly, even stepping in to serve themselves when staff were short. We had a buffet for our event, and they were more than happy to accommodate the changes we wanted. The food was absolutely delicious, with a wonderful range of fresh salads, perfectly cooked vegetables, tender roasts, and beautiful desserts. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the whole night ran seamlessly for an event we’d been planning for a long time. A huge thank you to both the old and new teams — you made the night really special!

Popped in because we noticed it was full of customers , generally we hoped this was because it was a must visit and glad we popped in we left very happy ! The customer service here is amazing from start to finish every staff member we come across made us feel welcome and they all worked so seamlessly together which was nice to see ☺️ Food selection was great and full of good choices , the food was well cooked and nicely presented and came out very fast compared to others we have dined in with . We had a mix up with the end docket total but the staff member that allowed us to discuss it was very helpful , considerate and accomodating and rectified the issue immediately the overall service we received today only would bring us back to visit the next time we are here Thank you team .

I had Chicken which was served on Kumara mash with sesame seeds and Barbeque sauce. The dish came with courgette on the side. The Chicken and Kumara (and bbq sauce) was actually very nice and I had nearly finished when I went to eat some of the courgette and found a dead fly. I showed the wait staff. I always do so in a polite manner and with the intention of providing feedback. On this occasion I advised the waitress to please inform the kitchen staff so that they could check the ingredient in the kitchen in make sure it was not contaminated, so as to ensure future diners did not have the same experience. She advised that she would do so and that a discount would be applied. No such discount was applied, and so my meal containing dead fly was $42 (includes one soft drink).

My husband and I went here for a Fathers day lunch. This was a perfect choice. The Chef absolutely knows what he/she is doing. Every dish from the cobb bread to the steak, the salmon, all the vegetables and the sauces was cooked 100% perfectly. The quality of the food we received was very high. It tasted fresh and each dish was the perfect size where you can feel full but not over stuffed. The front of house staff were wonderful. So helpful and friendly. Our waitress really made us feel looked after and nothing was too much to ask. She seemed genuinely so happy to help to make our experience amazing. We are just so impressed with everything. We like to feel as if we have our own space when we dine out and we had that here. There were the usual tables where you can sit closely to others, but there were also little tables in quiet corners and outside if you want a more private experience. The plates, cutlery, dishes and glasses were immaculately clean which is lovely to see. The prices are a bit over our own personal budget, but we have to say we definitely felt we got value for money. This makes it worth saving up for to go again and the costs are in line with market prices so the dishes are not actually overpriced. We will definitely save up and return here for special occasions, as our whole experience felt very special. Thank you to all who worked today from back of house to front of house and everyone in between. You all make a great team and together you are creating wonderful dining experiences for...

Came in for Sunday breakfast - 8 of us, including 2 children under 5. Place was relatively empty, maybe 4 other people in at the time. 3 star review for a few key reasons: The children were served last everytime - two fluffies, last drinks served at the table. Long black first, iced chocolates next, hot chocolate and then fluffies. When the meals came - the kids pancakes were served last (big breakfasts first, eggs benedict, two adults pancakes first). Kids menu states two pancakes, only received one. Suggestion: always serve the kids first, or at least ask. All meals, except one of the adults pancakes, were cold. Cold scrambled eggs, cold bacon. And the potatoes tasted like they were old and just refried. Pretty disappointed, won't be back for breakfast. Also surpised to see beer being served at 10.30am on a...
