Shiraz Indian Restaurant Whangarei — Restaurant in Northland

A very good example of a very bad restaurant.

I have never left a negative review in my life & I do realize this is not Michelin starred restaurant. The guys at Shiraz Restaurant in Whangarei ripping people off but selling Biryani for $17.50 & all you get is the small pack of bix that you get in any take away for $5.99. On top of it they charge $7 for delivery. Yes that's right $7. I live in Auckland & visit Whangarei every 3 weeks for my work projects in a financial institution. I rang to order lamb biryani for the 2nd time, the first time u ordered I got surprised by the serving size of the pack. 2nd time I had to order 2 dishes as their serving size is too small & they charge heaps lot of money. In Aucklnd you can buy family pack biryani from Paradise Restaurant for $35 which can easily feed 6 people.'but Shiraz is charging $17.50 +$7 for delivery in Whangarei.

I called & tried to speak to the owner Jas & tiled him that we pay $35 for family pack which fees 6mperson &'he goes other Unduan restaurants pay under the table & this is why my prices are higher as I pay PAYE off all my staffs. (This wil be verified soon though) at the end of the conversation he goes I won't service your order & will not deliver food to you. For any potential people looking to buy indian food in Whangarei I would highly recommend to avoid Shiraz. They are RIP OFF, have no courtesy & do not know how to talk to their customers. On top of that he Jas admitted he is being running restaurant in Whangarei for 21 years. This will also be verified...

I walked into Shiraz and enjoy a good dinner. If you looking for really spicy try the kolapuri fish (prawns or chicken n beer or lamb) . Though not on menu but it's really worth it. The service was really good. The ambience is quiet good n spacious to my surprise. @jeet the supervisor is a gem of a person and handle colleague n customer with smile. I just saw a new lady joined in today probably inducted but difficult to remember the Indian dishes name n got couple of dishes wrong for the next table. But jeet didn't shout on her just went to customer and tolded abt the confusion n took back the wrong food n got the right food n asked the same lady to serve n apologies to customer with smile. Also the owner jazz is really good n down to earth person. Overall enjoy a Good meal.. Hope some day they get the handi and...

“I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I ordered Chicken Biryani, Chilli Chicken, and Prawns Fry, specifically requesting dry items, but what I received were semi-gravy dishes. The Biryani was made with regular rice, which seemed identical to the rice served with their curries, lacking the authenticity and flavor you’d expect from a proper biryani.

To make matters worse, both the Chilli Chicken and Prawns appeared to have been made with the same gravy, which not only seemed careless but also resulted in an unappealing taste.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place based on my experience. I felt it was a waste of both my money...
