Beautiful boutique cinema right in Matakana. The showing room has stadium seating with very large comfy chairs... So obviously you don't feel like you're crammed like sardines like you might feel in other movie theatres. Each chair has it's own little table so you have somewhere to sit your wine, drinks, etc. In the middle of the showing room there is a large beautiful chandelier that feels very royal and Victorian. There's a boutique wine bar right inside the establishment so you can have a bite to eat and then take your wine in the showing room with you. The range of movie snacks I found are different and fun from other theatres. You can get hot chocolate, coffee, wine, boutique chocolate, boutique cola, ice cream, and flavored popcorn. TIP: Make sure to line up before the movie starts as you can't buy certain seats. It's first come first serve so come early to nab the seating area you want. The staff are pretty young but are very nice. The best thing about this theatre in my opinion is that it picks only the best 'boutique' films- many tend to more artsy or are the beautiful underdogs of the movie world. A lot of Sundance film festival movies. Def go and just pick a movie. You can't see a...
Read moreI actually wouldn't even give it 1 star! Went to Tuesday night Enigma. The film shown was "To kill a Unicorn". Probably bordering on the worst movie I have ever seen. Unicorns are known to children as sweet little pony type creatures. These were portrayed as vicous, violent, ugly animals. I know its potluck, along with the 12 of us that went. Only two actually enjoyed .it..A very poor statistic. Why would you show a movie like this to adults? Adults who go for something educational, interesting, inspiring?? no...just rubbish. Waste of money, won't...
Read moreReally poor selection of films, quite often don't even have new release/high demand films. The air conditioning is absolutely freezing, can't even enjoy the movie because the air is too cold. The price of snacks and drinks is appalling and a joke. If you don't want people bringing in their own food and drink items, maybe don't mark up the price by five dollars. Staff (girls in particular) really unfriendly and judgmental...and NO POPCORN!!!!! Feel like for the price you are paying at this theater, you're getting less quality than you would at an...
