We decided to visit Goose again for lunch today.
The coffee was not good this visit, and as I have mentioned before, it does depend on who the Barista is at the time, as it is too inconsistent.
We both ordered the filled brie panini, the amount of brie cheese was quite meagre, however the taste was good.
We returned here again had lunch and coffee yesterday, still very good.
The server was most pleasant, and the choice of food on display is very enticing.
My choice again was for their bacon and egg slice, first class, with just the right amount of both bacon and egg, with perfectly cooked pastry.
My wife had a cheese, onion and pickle specialty filled and toasted bread ciabatta type roll, which was superb.
I had a couple of cups of long black coffees, over the time of the meal.
The first was prepared by a different Barista, and to my taste was more aromatic, leaving a nicer taste on the palate than the second coffee, however both coffees were good, it does make a difference who makes the coffee here.
Earlier visit.
The server that greeted us must have been having a bit of a bad day, as there was no smile that we were accustomed to, and hardly even spoke to us, most unusual.
Earlier visit
We returned again today to try out the lunch menu.
I had their bacon and egg slice, and have to say it would be the best that I have had anywhere.
Plenty of bacon, with little to no fat, good amount of egg throughout and filled well, the crusty pastry was very well cooked.
The topping was also great, and as I like my bacon and egg slices cold, the topping was really crisy, perfect.
My wife had a brie vege filled toasted pita bread, which was also excellent.
From our point of view the food here cannot be faulted.
One real plus at Goose Bakery, you don't get screwed by the banks credit card surcharge, they absorb this cost themselves.
Earlier visit
We visited Goose Bakery for the first time last week, as we had already had our lunch, we just shared an apple muffin, plus a couple of coffees.
The muffin was very good and the coffees were also good.
The staff here are very welcoming and took they time to explain the products they have on offer.
Definitely worth a visit, and we will return in the future.
It is great to know that they can accomodate any specific health requirements, provided you explain your needs or limitations.
The outside garden area is serene, while you just sit there and admire the quiet surrounding, and you enjoy...

Now, let’s talk goodies. They have a massive array of freshly baked bread, pastries, and cakes, all lovingly crafted on-site and presented like edible works of art. You can even peek into the bakery and patisserie kitchen out back, just to make sure they mean business!
Coffee? Spot on. No complaints there. We went with the almond croissant and a plain croissant—safe choices? Both looked delightfully appetizing, just the right shade of golden perfection on the outside.
The almond croissant? Decent. A bit soft on the inside with minimal layering, but we’ll let it slide. The all-butter croissant, however, was a tale of two halves. My partner adored the outer layer, but the inside? Let’s just say it didn’t quite hit the mark. Too doughy for her taste and almost inedible. We left it for the seagulls, who might just be better judges than us.
All that aside, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and you...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about The Goose Cafe in Matakana. Run by a gorgeous Polish family, this place has become my go-to spot. The barista is hands down one of the best coffee makers I've ever met. Every cup is pure perfection.
The lovely lady who always serves me has such a wonderful, friendly and warm human being. I feel a bit guilty because I haven’t caught all their names yet (mum brain!), but they’re all so fantastic.
The food is amazing, the coffee is top-notch, and the staff are just lovely. The Goose Cafe is truly special, and I can't recommend it...
