I went to this bar last night for borrowing a bathroom. When I was on my way to the toilet, someone shouted at me “ excuse me”, I turned around and then everyone was looking at me but then I Politely asked if I could borrow a bathroom . He rejected me but However, I found him super rude the way he talked and the way he looked at me very aggressive. ( I understand in some places, black and white rules such as not allowing people who ain’t customers to use their bathroom. If that guy would talked to me in a polite manner and being professional, I would accept and respect their black and white rules but he wasn’t nice to me at all) Anyway, he rejected me and his tone was aggressive the way he telling me off with bit of yelling tone, told me it is not allowed but only for customers. I was about to buy some drinks with my friend after using the bathroom but his tone was rude and he already assumed I am not a customer and assumed I’m not gonna buy any drinks and foods. Then he also suggested if I wanted use bathroom just use the public ones but I told him those toilets are smelly.he replied something like saying not his problem and asked me to leave. Then I left cos my heart was beating fast cos I felt bit scared of him although I wanted to stand up for myself immediately . ( last night, I was having period and was having bit stomach pain was hopefully I could use nicer bathroom and I totally wouldn’t mind to buy a drink if he was being nice. I just wanted to feel comfortable and be treated with respect but I think he was bit extreme and far gone) . After leaving the bar and hours later, I still felt very upset and started to think he was more like personal attacked me by being extremely rude just because I walked to the bathroom. I felt like the way he looked at me like he hated me so much or maybe being racist because I am Asian. He also assumed from beginning I am not gonna be a customer and assumed I’m not buying any drinks.. so yea, overall, his attitude and the way he told me off also how he drew other people attention looking at me made me feel extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing . I understand there is rules need to follow and respect but I didn’t deserve the way he treated me especially his tone , his attitude at all. His manner reflects dark side of humanity and reflects how much he really “care” for customer service. He is lack of gentleman manner too. Ordered two pizzas to take home, one gluten-free. Restaurant was empty other than two tables of two each, so not busy when this issue occurred.
When at the till placing my order I said the following: “Funguy Pizza with a gluten free base,” then waited for the guy to put in that information. He even repeated what I said. A moment later, I then added, “No onions or garlic added, but it’s okay in the sauce.” I was charged extra for a gluten-free base, assumed I would get what I ordered.
Was told the wait would be 15-20 minutes. Sat and waited inside the restaurant for nearly 40 minutes, not hearing my name called out at all, getting up to check in the last 20 minutes before I was finally handed pizzas. My young child and I were hungry, so we left promptly to go home and eat. Once home (6 min away), I unhappily discovered our pizzas must have been sitting there behind the counter waiting for us for a while because the cheese was solid. No idea why they didn’t let us know they were ready.
Daughter still ate her pizza happily. Distracted and hungry, I started to dive into eating my pizza, nearly finishing one slice before realising my pizza did not have a gluten-free base. At this point, it was too late to avoid resulting symptoms.
I called the Rusty Pelican to alert them to this issue and to seek resolution. The manager confirmed that he had taken the order and saw that he had not included a gluten-free base as part of the order, an issue that may have occurred when adjusting the order for the Tuesday 2-for-1 pizza deal. He suggested that he didn’t hear me when I placed the order, which was not true, as I heard him repeat it. He apologised and suggested I return for another pizza, but I did not feel it was fair to be expected to leave home where my child was busy eating an already delayed dinner to pick up the pizza myself. I asked for a refund instead, which was promptly returned to my account.
I am concerned by the lack of attention to providing promised gluten-free food, which considering they have a whole section of the menu dedicated to gluten-free/dairy-free/vegan options, you’re lured into a false sense of security. Now I’m left feeling extremely unwell with increasing symptoms and I’m certainly far too nauseous to eat anything else for dinner tonight.
Although others may enjoy this restaurant, those with dietary needs will be looked after far better at other restaurants in the area who take dietary allergies and intolerances...
Read moreThis was my very first visit to this restaurant and I'm absolutely disappointed. The new owner of this place thinks he knows it all and he knows how to run this place from his point of view. My husband and his family been going to this restaurant for many years when the owner was different. So I already had high expectations for the food and the customer service. I booked a table for 4 adults 4 days prior and I specifically request a table big enough as we need enough space. Upon arrival the owner told us oh no one small table fits 4 adults. For goodness sake 1 small table with 4 chairs won't fit me n my family. So we had to wait around n told him like hey we booked in advance for this reason. Owner reply was I have to give u this table because the other tables fit 6 adults and I'll be losing business if I get you to sit there. We told him we will leave if we cant get a bigger table. The owner very quickly realized that he is losing customers which means losing money. so he made space and gave a bigger n better seating area. After ordering food n drinks we waited another 25 mins for the food to come out. And I was super disappointed we ordered medium rare steak and as soon as icut it open the steak was bloodly raw in side as the photo is doing justice to what I'm saying. The plate had more salad then the actual meal that's been advertised on the menu. Very disappointed the owner didn't bother to apologize when I went up with the plate of food to show him this is not what I've ordered. His reply was ill get the chef to remake this. What the actual hell no way I don't want it. I told him I don't want another one at all I've had enough we didn't even eat what we ordered but I paid for everything and we all left. The owner is more focused on making money but not providing the customer service or the food to the expectation level if they charger $36.50 for a steak meal you should have it how the customer bloodly wants it to be cooked. Absolutely ruined our night we didn't eat and we left. Straight away. The chef needs to be trained how to cook food in general and steak mainly and the owner is very rude worst restaurant to go to. I'd advise to all my families and friends not to go here to waste ur time and money On food that's not even cooked and customer service is Rubbish coming from the owner especially he is a indian fella i believe Sri lankan.
