Sam O Jung Restaurant 삼오정 — Restaurant in Upper Harbour

Will get straight to the point. We arrived and sat didn’t get water on our table, was given to others before and after us. Pretty strange for a Korean restaurant tbh usually they’re quite good about that. Ordered the kamjatang and didn’t get a bowl for bones which is standard practice, also had to ask for our water at this point. High chair was sticky and dirty so minus points for that.

Food came out, kamjatang had one solid bone with meat on it and then like one half a bone with a little meat (pretty stingey tbh, probably the least I’ve ever gotten before) the soup itself didn’t taste like kamjatang I’ve had before the taste a bit off and lacking something (I lived in Korea for 10 years and have eaten my way around) so just for context I know what it’s supposed to taste like. So I’d pass on that one next time.

The fried chicken was okay but nothing amazing, we ordered the spicy yangnyum (not enough sweetness to balance the spice) and the OG tasted like CFC, not quite like a solid Korean FC

Anyways not my best experience here, the kimchi was great and side dishes were good but overall I’d probably cross this off the list and be done with it! If you enjoy it then good on yah keep going...

they gave me soup in a dog bowl and claimed it was a miso bowl when there were dog pictures on the bowl. which could be a mistake but they never apologised or even gave me new soup in a human bowl.

edit: they replied but for 20 minutes they didnt say anything nor show us anything. the website they linked they never showed us in the restaurant. they never brought back the soup and made us wait and gave us no answer. idk why they decide to reply on here when they never replied to us in person when we asked. we would understand if they told us this in person but for our entire meal they never showed us this link. also, the link isnt even the bowl they gave us the soup in so the link showing a compeltely different bowl. even if it is a human bowl, how about tell us that instead of making us wait for you to come back out and say something and took way too long we had to...

Wonderful Sunday lunch experience. I noticed how amazingly clean the menus were, and how they were laminated, weighted, and it was extremely easy to turn to the next page. The tables were also sparkling clean. I ordered a $23 sizzling beef dish and it came with 6 side dishes and rice. Definitely can’t complain about the value. The taste is also pretty solid and not something to complain about. I also see that they value colour variety, as all the side dishes have two colours in them at least (red/green, yellow orange, etc). Highly recommend!
