I wouldn't recommend buying from this store. Utterly appalled by how they conduct business -- I placed an online order last Friday night (end of 3 days sale) so I could lock in the prices and pick up groceries Friday this week. They cancelled my order unexpectedly the next morning and when I rang up New World customer service to ask why that was the case they said they would ask the store to get back to me. Radio silence from Newmarket New World. I ended up ringing customer service for the next 2 days and one of the ladies kindly helped me escalate my case. Only then I got a call from their store manager who was very rude and unprofessional and insinuated that I kept calling customer service to cause trouble. He went on to give some sort of excuse saying items I ordered were low on stock when I placed my order so they had to cancel it they next day. Well -- thing is I was due to pick up my order a week after so it should only be cancelled when they pick the order and find that items are out of stock ONE WEEK LATER. I guess they don't replenish their stock for a week, that's why their items are always old or out of stock as mentioned in previous reviews. The real reason behind this cancellation in my opinion is that they are not willing to honour the items at their special prices. I’m writing this review after a very upsetting experience at New World Newmarket on 16 June 2025 — which I can confidently say will be my last visit.
I went in simply to buy water kefir and alkaline water, items not available at my usual supermarket (Woolworths). While browsing, I was approached by a tall, dark-skinned Pacific Islander security guard, who asked if I was “that lady” who had previously been trespassed from the store — an accusation that is entirely false and came completely out of nowhere.
I am of Persian and European descent and have a fair complexion. I couldn’t help but question whether I had been profiled or wrongly targeted based on how I look. While I can’t assume intent, being treated like a suspect when I had done nothing wrong was incredibly humiliating and inappropriate.
The entire interaction was public, accusatory, and left me feeling uncomfortable, disrespected, and honestly shaken. It was not only unprofessional but unacceptable — especially from a well-known supermarket chain.
I urge New World Newmarket to take this matter seriously and review how their security personnel interact with customers. Everyone deserves to feel safe, welcome, and respected while doing their grocery shopping — not wrongly accused and shamed.

Today I was stopped by a security guard after checking out at self checkout under the suspicion that I stole something.
Supervisor on site (older, asian lady) proceeded to print a receipt and claim the item I scanned was not paid for. I pointed out the item on the receipt to both the security guard and supervisor. Supervisor was in disbelief and still accusing me until I finally got her to read the item on the receipt. No apology no nothing, just all good, you're good to go.
After this experience, will definitely be my last time...
