Update: Response below to my review is subpar. It appears that this is the "culture" of this store, reading the previous reviews below. I don't believe that this company actually takes these reviews seriously. This kind of treatment appears to be complacent within the company, which seems very disappointing and concerning. I contact the provided email and an AI chat bot replied to an issues as serious as this. Hence why this is a common occurrence.
Extremely Disappointing Experience at Superette
I had a very unpleasant experience at this store. From the moment I walked in, I felt ignored. When I asked for assistance to view an item, the store host’s attitude was reluctant and cold. What made it worse was seeing how differently she interacted with another customer who was European, the contrast was clear.
I don’t like to make this about micro aggressions, but the interaction left me feeling completely appalled. It’s been three weeks, and the experience still sits with me. I was planning to return to purchase a pair of sunglasses, but I chose to buy them from David Jones instead because I didn’t want to step back into that environment.
No customer should ever be made to feel that way. It was disheartening, disappointing, and unacceptable.
I rarely leave reviews like this, but this experience had to be shared....
Read moreNot a great experience today! Disgusting & disappointing behaviour from a female staff. (don’t know name) Dismissed serving me but would have preferred to serve a white man wearing a suit next to me. How rude, as a “BROWN” customer this is a major red flag, that I somehow need to dress up in order to be acknowledged & served. Interesting that a previous customer faced the same issue. Cherry on top, after handing me my bagged item I replied with a polite “Thank you”, only for it to be rewarded with a facial expression as if I was not worth her time. I shop here often but not once have I received this treatment, after this experience I would prefer the Ponsonby store or online. Management should check well on who they hire because this is not acceptable, if it were possible to give zero...

She felt uncomfortable, as the sales person was standing 1 step away from her at all times considering there were other customers in the store a close attention was only paid to her, even when my daughter called me and spoke European language, the sales consultant would still keep a VERY close eye on her. Finally when 2 items were selected sales consultant insisted on carrying items to the counter. My daughter felt stereotyped just because she was wearing school uniform and has a brown...
