I was misinformed by a person on Wilsons Parking at Princes Wharf on August the 23rd, this person works at the parking and was wearing a jacket belonging to Parking Enforcement Services - badge number 2064. When I arrived at the car park I noticed it didn't have any gates and is a parking lot that I am not used to, nor familiar to how it operates as I live abroad. I specifically asked this person to let me know how the process is to park here. His response was the following: You park the car in any empty spot, there is a (4) hour parking limit and you need to pay when you pick up your car before leaving.
This person did not tell me that you are supposed to pay upon arrival. The car park has no signage that advises this. The only visible signs are 'Pay by Plate - 4 hour limit' As there are car parks in Australia (they are very common) that you enter and it scans the plate, you pay when you are leaving as it will calculate automatically the time spent in the parking lot, the instructions provided by this person did not seem inaccurate.
This person clearly acted with malice and intention of self-benefiting economically, as they receive a portion of the fines as commission. I appealed on the Parking Enforcement Services page, and an automatic message was sent - rejecting my appeal. Now I am extremely offended and upset, as I also noticed there were several other vehicles with fines in the windshield. I would like to see if there are any previous cases similar to mine, as I would really even contact people and gather information. I would like some support, as I was wrongfully given information with the intent of benefiting at my expense.
This is terrible that happens in NZ, as since the borders reopened, a lot of tourists plan to come and visit the country. This experience has been very displeasing to me personally, and I deserve some sort of explanation.
The supervisor of this person can review videos of the date and time of when I approached him, and see that subsequently I parked (in front of this person) and left the premises. I have contacted consumer protection authorities in NZ, and I am willing to even consult with a lawyer on this case, as this is not different from deceiving a person for economic gains, which is considered a felony.
I am outraged and frustrated, as not even consumer protection authorities seem to pay...
Read moreI got $65 fine after I payed the parking fee. The signage says only "Pay by plate" you never find "pay and display" but you have to prepay and show the ticket on your window, actually. As they says "It is ultimately your responsibility to read the terms ans conditions" They don't have the responsibility to notice CLEARLY payment process to EVERYONE even it's PUBLIC parking. They even don't accept / understand I payed the parking fee before I leave, they just charge full $65 fine. THIS IS THEIR WAY TO...
Read moreThe most manipulative “terms and conditions” - purely made to profit off vulnerable people that aren’t confident with inner city parking rules! “Pay by plate” is open for interpretation then they pull out the “you should’ve read the terms and conditions on the board”….. legal jargon that would take 2 hours to read! You aren’t fining people that are illegally parking! You are fining easy targets that are trying to do the right thing!...
