I'm writing to give feedback about the experience I had on Wednesday 16/07/25.I hope it reaches the relevant management team.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed courteously; however, our server appeared to be unwell or perhaps fatigued. She took time to actually come back which we got another waiter nd she came after the other waiter took our order. We told the other waiter took our order nd she said I'll be your waiter or you want her to serve you guys" with an intense approach of communication which I said we don't choose, are fine with any of you guys cause you took time to come. So The first waiter, Her initial responses were somewhat cold and lacked the usual warmth of service. It was only after one of my friends inquired, "Are you okay? You don't look well," that she explained she was tired because they don't wana give her a day off. Interestingly, later in the service, her demeanor seemed to improve, and she appeared more friendly, even smiling.
We ordered the R100 special meal, but unfortunately, we were informed that the drinks we requested were out of stock. I inquired whether it was possible to check for alternative options, but we were told that if the drinks were finished, that was the end of the stock. We then asked if replacements could be considered, they said "No" and we were given the option to purchase drinks, which we ordered .
The food presentation was appealing, and the taste was satisfactory overall, except for the prawns and oysters, which caused some adverse reactions. I experienced itching in my ears and discomfort in my throat, raising concerns about potential seafood allergies. The waiter advised me to take antibiotics before consuming seafood in the future.
Regarding the sauce pan, I am unsure whether it was intentionally burnt or if that was its intended appearance, but I ate it anyway to enjoy my meal.
After finishing our meal, the waiter approached us to inform that she had found some drinks. We were surprised, especially considering that we had already spent beyond our budget. When she went to fetch the drinks, I observed another waiter serving the same drinks to some white customers, despite being told they were out of stock😔. This really left us wondering about the consistency of stock management and whether we may have been disadvantaged. The drinks were brought back to us, but we did not finish them as we were already full.
Overall, I was disappointed with how we were served. It seemed there might have been preferential treatment or an attempt to withhold stock from us. I have read similar experiences from others here on Tik tok regarding the special, where replacements were often provided. In our case, we were left to purchase our own drinks, which was not in line with our expectations.

I would like to share my experience of Monte Casino Ocean basket. What started of has a beautiful evening ended with me in the Emergency room.
I arravied at Oceanbasket on Tuesday 06/08/2025 at approximatly 20:30. We where welcomed by friendly faces and got escorted to our seats. My husband and I placed our order (The R145) special and within 10 minutes our order was out to us. I thought this was stranded but brushed it off and said "Wow this is by far the best customer service" when I asked the lady why where they so fast in getting our food to us she said because we've not busy today, and proceeded to eat our meal. While eating I noticed my tummy felt abit weird but I didn't pay much attention to it. Upon leaving my husband said the same and we rushed home has he had a runny tummy, little did I know what was in-store for me the next morning.
I woke up the following morning Wednesday the 07/08/2025 at around 7am and began feeling extremely nauseous to which I vomited about 7 times and was rushed to the emergency room. Upon arrival many tests where carried out and it was ruled out that I had food poisoning, mind you Oceanbasket was the last thing I ate/ had in my system.
I was admitted and put on countless drips and medication but unfortunately I'm still very unwell.
My theory is that the reason why the waiter was able to serve us so quick is because this was food that was already made and kept out and was just reheated. This was not prepared freshly.
I am currently awaiting their customer care to call me and inform me on a way forward as I am taking this case very serious and will be sueing for food poisoning which has impact me in the worse way possible.
My advise, dont go to Monte casino Oceanbasket if you value your life, I learnt this a little to late.

Our family of seven were happy to enjoy our first experience at the Ocean Basket as we are holidaying with family in the area. We went away almost two hours later disgruntled and scratching our heads. Firstly, we were greeted by the owner, lovely woman and shown to our seats, right next to an open door to the patio that very cold air was blowing through. The front door was left open and the draft was needless to say very uncomfortable. It took 30 minutes to get our drink order in and back to the table. When they arrived three of them were forgotten. At which point she took our food order 40 minutes in and even then the kitchen didn’t process for another ten minutes. We waited another half hour until someone in our party complained to the manager, a disinterested fellow that couldn’t bother his arse to make things right. There was a flurry of commotion and our food appeared. By then we were all very disappointed and dissatisfied, an hour and half later. Very disappointed with the management by not offering to make this right but instead lost future customers due to a very dismissive attitude.
