The choice of this 2 star accommodation is understandably the budget friendliness compared to the other 2 sister hotels on the premises.|The location is conveniently sited within walking distance to the Montecasino complex and general parking. (No food allowed into Montecasino)|The walk to the parking is however not all under cover, and a brollie needed if raining. ||The hotel is modern, artistic and has fun features such as swings. Beyond the savvy tech facade, there were no lift facilities for guests when we arrived, and we were relieved to be changed to ground floor. ||We arrived about 1pm, and were disappointed that only 1 staff was manning the desk. She was also too busy attending to phone calls, and when we finally inquired whether earlier check-in was possible, she stated flat-out the hotel policy of 2pm check-in.|Many travellers travel long distances and are not locals visiting the area, thus there are bound to be earlier arrivals.|There was no professional effort to accommodate, consider or attend to the request or communicate with the supervisor. Surly if a room was ready, we could be accommodated, as we had driven since morning from another country, and were to attend a theatre performance that evening.|So with no-where to go, we walked around the Montecasino complex aimlessly until the designated check-in time. Then we found a long que at the counter when we returned, as everyone must now check-in simultaneously. |Although there was one extra staff member this time, it did little to expedite the check-in process.||ROOMS|Very small, compact, cozy and clean|Ample plugs/adapters everywhere, Insufficient storage space|No fridge and only small towels available|Room not designed to eat in, but for guests to eat out at Montecasino|The idea concept is just to sleep and shower, with other activities undertaken at "the compound"|We were disturbed by a staff member in the afternoon who knocked and asked if we were smoking! but we are non-smokers!||Disclaimer: review is over a year late.....as still unpacking memories...
Read moreI absolutely loved this hotel!
To those who complain about it not having a pool, hot tubs or a gym, you really shouldn't notice as there is so much to do at Monte Casino! It is literally a few steps away.
It is in a fantastically safe location, you can walk late at night and not have to worry at all.
The rooms are modern, clean and cozy. I absolutely loved the interior design. The lighting in the rooms are beautiful as they work well with the theme of your room and hotel. There was USB charging by your bed (convenient), a large smart TV and aircon that also heats for winter.
Room service is available and breakfast is available at their sister hotel at the Piazza Hotel next door, which you are welcome to join for a fee (I think it was R250). I actually loved the fact that you can eat there early in the morning as the only other place open was Mugg & Bean in Monte Casino. The selection of food was great and well worth the price as your choice of coffee is included. There are your staples as well as an extra selection that changes by the day. When I worked it out, it was actually cheaper then Mugg & Bean with more selection. They were also warm and welcoming.
The staff at Hotel Perte couldn't be better. What a wonderful and attentive team. Good job on hiring the right people for the job. They are super friendly and so welcoming and helpful. They made me feel valued as a guest and that is how you know you have good staff.
There is a lovely outdoor seating area with a coffee and snacks cart/tuktuk to purchase from. But there is also coffee in a cleverly designed area in your room (I was impressed).
I loved my stay and can't wait to go back again one day. Next time I will record everything and post online. This first time was a...
