Anytime Fitness — Local services in Barcelona

Don’t go here, my experience at this club has been extremely disappointing. As a Dutch citizen temporarily living in Barcelona for a few months, I brought them three new members, which added around €180 a month to their revenue. Instead of appreciation, my Anytime badge was blocked. Why? Because they tried to pressure me into switching to their local membership, even though I was already in my final 30 days in Barcelona. Switching would have meant paying higher fees when I returned to the Netherlands, which made no sense.

Even after my Dutch gym tried to mediate and resolve the issue, this location refused to cooperate. As a result, I now have to visit other clubs that are farther away, which is a significant inconvenience. On top of that, their fees are quite high: a €40 deposit for the key badge, and a friend of mine had to pay €70 for just one month, excluding the deposit.

Additionally, the staff could learn a lot about hospitality. During my visits, I never heard a simple “Hola” or “Adiós,” and there was no interaction or friendliness whatsoever. The only time the staff spoke to me was when I brought friends for a trial session on a Sunday. Instead of showing gratitude, they tried to charge me for bringing those friends because no staff was present that day—even though those friends later signed up for memberships. They even went as far as contacting my Dutch gym to complain about me.

Overall, my experience at this club was frustrating and disappointing. The policies felt unfair, the fees were excessive, and the customer service left much to be desired. I wouldn’t recommend this location to others. The service is...

when I tried cancelling, they said I can’t do it online. In person, they said they can’t deal with this now. 3 days in a row. when they finally “had time” to cancel my membership, they said they won’t give my €35 deposit back because appearsntly now it isn’t a deposit but I “purchased the key” How can someone do business like this?

Hands down the worst gym in my life. And I’ve been to hundreds of gyms all over the world.

No AC, mandatory membership for 55€ else you pay 70€, the equipment is in terrible condition. There’s 2 squat racks only and you supposed to use those for bench press too! Floor is in terrible shape in the weights area. People use benches to store their stuff. Only 1 cable machine. Receiptionist are not friendly. I’d say they’re even hostile and offended if you don’t speak their language. Cancelling is a nightmare also. The space is so small that even when there’s only 15 people inside, it gets crowded af. I don’t know about cleaning but there was a half-drank bottle of water in a corner for 2 at least weeks, mirrors are always dirty and handles are...

this services business is like a trap. i came there to use the gym, and they tell you to sign the contract 6 months. i signed it. after one month, bc of changing my stay suddenly to another city, i tried to communicate with them online, i asked them to cancel and they say no, that i have to do it in advance, and they forced me to pay 2 month, 1 one month i didnt use and another for canceling in advanced even i tried my best to communicate with them as soon as i could. Then when i back to BCN, i came there and we has a big discuss for the service and they said would report me and i would have to go to judge. Ridiculous¡¡¡ i didnt know that i would enter that horrible trouble just for using almost 3 weeks there¡¡¡ and when i read all this review i just realize that too many people have the same problem to cancel service with this place....
