Another new coffee shop of Barcelona, and also in Poblenou, the awesome trendy neighborhood that is flourishing with housing and gastronomic scene! Orval Barcelona is a specialty coffee shop in Barcelona from the same owners of ESPAI JOLIU, that is also in that list. They are very into plants, so why not have lots of them in the space, and also sell them, great idea uh? Their decoration is great, minimalist and also rustic, taking advantage of the old construction remais of old building they are, like apparent old concrete and raw materials in the walls, for example. They have quite good coffee offer, as you can see in the photos below, such as the hard to find in Barcelona KALITA METHOD, for a fair price. Cold Brew and Kombucha available as well. The service is great, very kind people as well as friendly. We could finally meet ELENA in person, a coffee Instagram friend that works there as Barista! The food offer is good, sweets and some salty sandwiches. But as we were in a hurry, we had an Espresso doble and also a Flat White with a bean from Honduras roasted by NOMAD, and mainly produced in the specialty coffee by women. They are not roasters so they use coffee from good Barcelona Coffee Roasters, such as THREE MARKS COFFEE and NOMAD COFFEE. Upstairs they have a more calm tables, in which you can work with lots of caffeine in your veins, as they also offer you free wifi! Orval is a definitely must go specialty coffee shop in BARCELONA!

Read moreThe place is very beautiful and chill. Nice music, good coffee, although a bit overpriced. The vibes are fine. Whatever someone wants in a shiny day!
My experience was not the best, though. I wanted to use my laptop and I realised as the staff informed me that it’s only allowed upstairs. It’s okay, I get it that it’s a policy and that they don’t want to have an environment full of laptops (although it’s kinda hippy and pretentious). Going upstairs I realised that you can use two specific spots for the laptop and one of them (the biggest) doesn’t even have plugs. Later on I realised that the WiFi is more unstable than an ongoing earthquake. If I hadn’t bought my coffee already, I would definitely leave.
And again, I really get it that you don’t want to have an environment only with laptops but two things: The place when I came was empty and only 3 people (including me) with laptops were upstairs doing their things (I believe that if those people were downstairs they would attract more people to come and sit, just saying). Personally, I believe that you can have a space where laptops, books and fine conversations can coexist! Don’t demonise it, you are not a grandpa. A girl from the staff was using her MacBook downstairs which, let me tell you, is really really bad and discriminating when they tell you that as a customer you cannot use it there. If you have a rule it has to apply to everybody.
Saying those with really good intentions just as some thoughts I had. Hope it gives food for thought...
Read moreI recently visited Orval hoping to enjoy an iced flat white, but unfortunately, the coffee shop was unable to make one. Instead, they offered me an iced cortado as an alternative. While I appreciate their attempt to find a substitute, the overall experience left much to be desired.
This was not the my first time visiting this place but probably this was the last time. Even though that is isually appealing upon further visits, I noticed disconnection between the ambiance and the overall customer needs.
As a customer, I believe that a coffee shop should strive to understand and cater to the preferences of its customers. While it's understandable that not all drinks may be available, a customer oriented approach would involve actively exploring alternatives or providing a satisfactory explanation for the unavailability. Not just "No we cant do that."
I hope that you take this feedback constructively and consider making improvements on your customer approach. Understanding your customer preferences and ensuring a more consistent vibe within the coffee shop would greatly contribute to a more positive...
