In shop, the staff are great very friendly, but their online website is very restrictive. We are in the process of purchasing a house in Spain and wanted to make use of the sale, no IVA/VAT charges on purchases for a limited time, it's quite a savings given IVA in Spain for those kind of items is 21%....but you must have a Spanish Credit Card to purchase online that is obviously linked to a Spanish billing address as well as a Spanish phone number.
I find this hugely restrictive, forget about my experience for a moment. What if you are visiting family/friends and want to buy them a gift and that is not available in shop, you go immediately online. These are not the days to be loosing customers, while online you will go to another site and perhaps find it for 'in store pickup' so you are going to choose that option. Move with the times MediaMkt.
Take a leaf out of Amazon's book, while in Spain on Amazon.es I have used a US credit card with billing address in Florida and had the items shipped to the real estate agents address that we are renting an apartment from here in Spain.

The second time I was told to leave the documents and they would do everything themselves, and I would receive an email notification that the insurance was closed - I received nothing. Read moreWe have bought a Delonghi espresso machine at Media Markt Finestrat. 670 euros. BIG PUSH from the employee to also buy the 5 year warranty. The employee said that even if it is a great machine, you never know. With the extended warranty you will be FULLY COVERED for 5 years. So we paid 89 additional euros. Less than 18 months later the machine has stopped working. We were quite happy to be FULLY COVERED. But very BAD SURPRISE we are told that we have to pay 100 euros to have the machine repaired. Why ? Many emails, discussions with no clear explanation. Just pay or take it back. In the end we are told the breakdown is due to MISUSE !!! What ? How can it be ? No answer, no explanation. Why do you sell extended warranty if in the end you can tell customers that due to misuse you will not cover the cost to repair ??? Misuse that do not prove or even explain. We told Media Markt that we are good clients (since we are in Spain we bought everything there, thousands of euros...). It doesn't count. From now on we will never buy at Media Markt...
